'Grey's Anatomy' season 16: Fans obsess over couples Meredith-Andrew, Alex-Jo and Owen-Teddy before the premiere

Twitter has been buzzing with much enthusiasm and joy as viewers were delighted to watch the new season of 'Grey's Anatomy'.

Officially the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history, 'Grey's Anatomy' is all set to make its way back on screen with its sixteenth season. Despite its long run, the showrunners have managed to keep the excitement among fans.

Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo Wilson in the series, tweeted to her fans: "One. More. Sleep.... and we’re back in your lives! We’ve missed you guys!" TV writer Nicole Silverberg tweeted, "Came home to 16 cupcakes (and two episodes!!) to celebrate the 16th season of my favorite show. thank you @GreysABC for the delicious gift (ate the DVD)!" alongside a picture of cupcakes designed as a DVD set.

Twitter has been buzzing with much enthusiasm and joy as viewers expressed their delight to watch the new season. One fan wrote, "Me tomorrow, first thing in the morning, waiting for Kim’s Instagram take over... #GreysAnatomy," while another said, "So like actual tears are coming out of my eyes right now Bc I’m listening to a greys playlist and I’m SO FREAKING HAPPY that it's coming back tomorrow!!"

Many fans couldn't help but obsess over the characters. "I need an Andrew DeLuca in my life," one user tweeted, while another one posted: "May Season 16 of #GreysAnatomy be a great one for Alex Karev and a good season overall." "I mean when you think about it, Meredith has the word “death” in her name... no wonder everyone she ever cares about dies #GreysAnatomy @GreysABC @EllenPompeo," one tweet read and another one went, "I am so beyond excited to see what #greysanatomy season 16 chooses to do with Teddy & Owen and their newborn. THIS. Is. So. Riveting. We’ve been waiting for Owen's happy ending."

Several fans also jumped in with a quick quiz about their favorite events and characters from the show. This is what most tweets looked like: "Top 3 Characters: Mark Sloan, Jackson Avery, Cristina Yang Least Fav Character: Jo and Calli Most wanted to return: Mark Sloan Needs to GO: Jo Favorite Romance: Mark & Lexie Favorite Guest Star: Saddest Death: Mark Sloan."

That's not all. Fans, who have been waiting for the series for months, posted their predictions and wishes on Reddit. In a long post, one fan wrote: "More focus on friendships now that some of this love stuff is out the way. I thought they were going in a Meredith/Teddy friendship route earlier this season and then later a Teddy/Jo thing but in general, I think it’s time they shift to developing new bonds. The show needs to feel a little more cohesive and not like 4 different shows going on at once. And lastly, my only real issue with Grey’s is something they can’t control. Being on network TV. 24/25 episodes is a damn DRAG—I’m so not used to watching a show with more than 8 episodes—but as I said, they can’t control that but they can control the pace."

As the series comes back on ABC this Thursday on September 26, 2019, at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC, it is to be seen where each character arc goes. The episode count for the season will be 24 episodes.
