Justin Chambers quit 'Grey's Anatomy', after leaving an Alex-shaped hole in our hearts. His final episode aired in November, and we might not even get a goodbye episode. In the latest episodes of 'Grey's Anatomy', Alex Karev is mentioned being in Iowa with his mother, and fans are missing his strong presence on the show. The once-brash and blunt surgeon had shown remarkable character development over the course of fifteen years and his friendship with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) had become one of the endearing factors of the show.

The eleventh episode of Season 16 barely mentioned Alex and fans are feeling rather sore and upset. A fan wrote, "Like how did we not get a chance to say bye to Alex Karev?!?"

Another tweeted, 'When will @GreysABCaddress Alex Karev’s absence. I’m going to get my heart broken again. He’s probably dead or something."

Some fans are genuinely afraid that the show will write his character off rather abruptly without even a proper explanation. "I really feel a WAY about #GreysAnatomy UNCEREMONIOUSLY writing Justin Chambers aka Alex Karev off the show! After ALL these years!!! How inconsiderate to your loyal ass fans who have stuck with you through everything!!"

"He deserves a better exit," writes one fan.

"How long will he be visiting his mother?" A viewer tweeted.

"Soooo is no one going to talk about Alex Karev?? We are just going to pretend like he’s visiting his mom forever? He deserves a better exit," another exulted.

Several fans are not interested in following the show if does not feature Alex Karev. "If Shonda thinks I can keep watching Grey’s without Alex Karev, she is wrong," wrote a fan.

One fan threatened to boycott the show completely. "I actually am boycotting #GreysAnatomy because Alex Karev was the overall end game and @shondarhimes ruined it!"

'Grey's Anatomy' airs on ABC, Thursdays, 8 pm.
