Fans are worried after Zola is seen wearing a mask and seems to be in isolation

The fate of Meredith Grey has been hanging in the balance for a few weeks now. But as if fans didn't already have enough to worry about, a recent post on the Instagram page of 'Grey's Anatomy' showing Zola (Aniela Gumbs) wearing a mask, has fans concerned.

Zola has had a very challenging time of late after she overheard her aunt Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) tell Link (James Christopher Carmack) that Meredith is on a ventilator and she is afraid her sister isn't going to make it.

The news obviously sends young Zola into a panic and in the meantime, Maggie (Kelly McCreary), Zola's other aunt is nowhere to be found. However, Maggie finally comes home and explains to Zola the seriousness of Meredith being on a ventilator. 

Zola, ever the little adult, says that her siblings Bailey and Ellis should be shielded from the news unless it is absolutely necessary to tell them. Zola has had more emotional complications to deal with than most kids and with this post 'It's All Too Much'.

Fans are wondering why Zola is wearing a mask in her own home. One fan on Instagram said, "ok but why is zola wearing a mask plz don’t let anything happen to her". Others similarly showed their concern, "You guys are killing me, chill and leave Zola alone."

Some chose to see a silver lining to the post. One fan on Instagram said, "IS MER BACK , IS THAT WHY ZOLA IS WEARING A MASK". Others felt that this could be a possibility as well, "if mer isn’t lying on that couch I’ll be fumin."

Others had a more practical take saying, "To all the comments about why Zola is wearing a mask: i am assuming that they’re in between takes and the cast wears masks when they’re not filming?"

Some fan theories centered around a synopsis for the next episode, "it seems that Zola is doing isolation at home because she is ALONE in the room using MASK !! this is episode 17x09 and the synopsis of ep 17x10 says "mother and daughter are in a critical situation fighting for the LAST ventilator" IS NOT MEREDITH AND ZOLA, RIGHT? *just a theory."

Another fan theory on the episode synopsis that's causing concern says, "It says a mother and daughter are fighting for a ventilator but Mer already has one. Hayes' sister in law gets put in the hospital which means Amelia has to babysit one of their kids which means Mer's kids might have to wear masks and isolate just to be safe. That's just a theory."

Well let's hope that both Zola and Meredith are safe, and as fans of 'Grey's Anatomy', we'll be glad if Meredith is indeed on the couch next to Zola. You can catch new episodes of 'Grey's Anatomy' on Thursdays at 9|8c on ABC.
