'Great Seoul Invasion': Band survival show mentors include Eunbi, Jaehwan and N.Flying
With K-pop and K-dramas establishing themselves as global phenomena and the world closely watching South Korea’s pop culture, we now have other niches coming up and making themselves known. After the success of ‘Street Woman Fighter’, Korean professional dancers and backup dancers are suddenly in the spotlight. And now Mnet, responsible for several of these survival shows has taken it upon themselves to create a survival show for Korean bands.
With idol groups more or less dominating the music industry of South Korea, Korean bands have yet to introduce themselves on a global scale. While we have had a couple of popular Korean bands like DAY6 and N.Flying, Mnet has revealed that they want to provide an international platform for more bands with the survival show ‘Great Seoul Invasion’. We have had some popular bands auditioning like ONEWE, Surl, The Midnight Romance, South Club and more. And the cast is about to get even more star-studded thanks to the likes of Kwon Eunbi and Kim Jaehwan.

Mentors of ‘Great Seoul Invasion’
With the survival show getting closer than ever, we are finally getting more information on ‘Great Seoul Invasion’. The show is set to premiere on June 29 at 9:40 pm KST (8:40 am ET) on Mnet and TVING. Actor Yoon Park of 'Forecasting Love and Weather' fame who is also a drummer is set to be the MC of the survival show. There will be 10 mentors who will act as the team leaders and help guide the participating bands. The 10 mentors are going to team up as duos or trios to lead the bands. The mentors are:
Peppertones’ Shin Jae-pyung and Lee Jang-won x Jukjae
Ko Young-bae x Kwon Eunbi
Minue x N.Flying’s Kim Jaehyun and Lee Seunghyub
Yoon Sunghyun x Kim Jaehwan
Peppertones is a veteran rock band in the Korean music industry and has also branched out into radio shows and songwriting for K-pop artists.
Jukjae is a singer and guitarist and has worked with the likes of IU and Jung Hae-hyung since 2008.
Ko Young-bae is a singer and part of the band SORAN where he is the frontman.
Kwon Eunbi had participated in Mnet’s ‘Produce 48’ survival show and debuted as the leader of IZ*ONE. She is now a soloist.
Minue is part of the band The Midnight Romance who was also rumored to audition for ‘Great Seoul Invasion’. He is the guitarist and previously was the drummer of the band TRAX.
N.Flying is one of the few popular bands in the K-pop scene.
Yoon Sunghyun is the vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Thornapple since 2010.
Kim Jaehwan is another Mnet favorite as he won ‘Produce 101’ and was part of Wanna One before debuting as a soloist. He can play the drums, guitar, piano and several other instruments and grew up with band music.
