'Good Girls' season 3: Stan has stuck by Ruby through thick and thin, but can he forgive her wilful return to crime?

Stan's love for Ruby has been tested time and again, and there is the probability that he would rather join her in her life of crime than live without her.

Over the last two seasons of ‘Good Girls’ we have watched Beth (Christina Hendricks), Annie (Mae Whitman), and Ruby (Rhetta) go from one crime to another, digging a hole so deep that it became difficult for them to climb out. Even though the respective men in their lives were spared the danger of knowing about their criminal lives, Dean (Matthew Lillard) and Stan (Reno Wilson) had gotten wind of everything over the course of the last few episodes.

While Dean decided that he wants to distance himself from his wife, Stan has been a rock for his, going as far as to steal evidence against Ruby and her friends. Despite being forced to question his morality, he stood by her, because he knew that she did everything to protect their family, and to afford the life-saving surgery because of which his daughter is still alive. At the end of season 2, however, we see that the trio has received a clean chit. In exchange for saving his life, and also because he is convinced that Beth is a good person, Jimmy (James Lesure) tells her that he no longer wishes to hound her. However, he does warn her that this offer expires the second he gets to know that she is back to her old ways.

Instead of taking this threat seriously and keeping out of harm’s way, Beth chooses to get right back into action and invites her sister and best friend to join in. We know from the history of the show that neither Annie nor Ruby would be able to say no to Beth – for widely different reasons. However, getting back in the saddle would not cost all of them dearly, but possibly mostly Ruby. While Stan has been extremely understanding of everything, he is under the impression that the games are over. He believes that after narrowly escaping prison time and again, his wife is ready to look past easy way outs, and focus on their family. He, however, will be sorely mistaken.

That being said, the love that Stan has for Ruby has been tested time and again, and there is the probability that he would rather join her in her life of crime than live without her. It remains to be seen how their relationship would play out on the show. We will know when season 3 premieres on NBC, hopefully in early 2020.
