Golden Globes 2021: Tracy Morgan mispronounces ‘Soul’ after win, jokes ‘was thinking about pizza guy Sal’
After much wait, the 78th edition of the Golden Globes aired on Sunday, February 28, 2021, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting one of the first biggest award ceremonies of the season. Fey hosted the ceremony from New York City's Rainbow Room while Poehler was present at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Talking about the Best Original Score in a Motion Picture, Pixar's animated fantasy comedy-drama film ‘Soul’ took the big award. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste are the musicians behind the magnificent score of the film. The critically-acclaimed flick locked horns with other movies such as ‘Mank’, ‘The Midnight Sky’, ‘News of the World’ and ‘Tenet’. ‘Soul’ is directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers and stars the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House, Alice Braga, Richard Ayoade, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Questlove and Angela Bassett.

Before the Internet could celebrate the big news, Tracy Morgan, who had announced the win on the big stage, mispronounced the movie’s name which led to a laughter riot on Twitter. Instead of ‘Soul’, Morgan said ‘Sal’ and the social media users jumped on him on the micro-blogging site to make fun of the actor. One user stated, “Sowl." Tracy Morgan is undefeated. #Soul #GoldenGlobes.” Another added, “Please let Tracy Morgan introduce Soul at the Oscars. #GoldenGlobes.”
