Golden Globes 2021: 'Soul' wins Best Motion Picture Animated award, fans say 'there was no competition'
Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the 78th Golden Globe Awards which began on Sunday, February 28, 2021, with the hosts at two different locations. This would mark the first bi-coastal event in the ceremony's history. With all eyes on the nominees of the many different categories, Fey hosted the ceremony from New York City's Rainbow Room and Poehler hosted it from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
For the category Best Motion Picture — Animated, comedian Tiffany Haddish presented the award as 'Soul' took home the honor. The movie, an American computer-animated fantasy comedy-drama was directed by Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers. The film also won Best Animated Feature Film.

It starred Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Graham Norton, Rachel House, Alice Braga, Richard Ayoade, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Questlove and Angela Bassett. It was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Co-director Powers is the first debut Black filmmaker to win a Golden Globe for Animated Feature. The movie was almost 100 per cent predicted to be the winner of the category, so many fans were not surprised. Other nominees for the category were 'The Croods: A New Age, 'Onward', 'Over the Moon' and 'Wolfwalkers'.
The movie touched many hearts around the world with raving reviews, and tears to share. It was excellently produced and delivered and fans didn't think there was a chance any of the other nominees were taking the award home for the category.
