Golden Globes 2021 Presenters List: Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Cynthia Erivo among stars who will hand out awards
The 78th Golden Globes are just around the corner and those who have been nominated at the star-studded event will be waiting to get their hands on the beautiful trophy. Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) will be handing out the trophies on February 28, 2021, at 8 pm ET. Unlike earlier award ceremonies, the event might not completely go the virtual route and people might get a chance to see the hosts, nominees and presenters physically attending the show.
The star-studded program, also known as ‘Hollywood’s Part of the Year’, will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, a location the ceremony has occupied since 1945.

The first batch of the presenters for the upcoming ceremony has been announced and includes all the big names. Continuing the tradition, the best actor and best actress winners of 2020 will be presenting the trophies. Joaquin Phoenix won the best actor accolade for ‘Joker’ while Renee Zellweger received the best actress prize for her performance in the film ‘Judy’. Annie Mumolo is also one among them.
On the other hand, last year’s winner of the best actress (comedy/musical) Awkwafina will also be attending the event as a presenter. Let’s take a look at the first batch of presenters for Golden Globes 2020.
LIST OF PRESENTERS
Joaquin Phoenix
Phoenix stunned the world with his impeccable acting in the film ‘Joker’ which got him the best actor award during the last year’s ceremony. Phoenix started his professional acting career with the TV series ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ in 1982 and appeared in several TV shows before transitioning into a movie star.
However, his moment of glory came in 2000 when he was cast in the Oscar-winning movie ‘Gladiator’ as Commodus. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the best supporting actor category and made himself enter the list of elite actors.
He made an amazing impression with great acting in the movie ‘Signs’. Phoenix continued to woo the audiences with a stellar performance in movies like ‘Walk the Line’, ‘We Own The Night’, ‘The Master’, ‘Inherent Vice’, ‘You Were Never Really Here’, and ‘Joker’. The ‘Sisters Brothers’ star has two Golden Globes to his name, one for ‘Walk the Line’ and another one for ‘Joker’.
He won his first-ever Academy Award in 2020 for playing Arthur Fleck in the Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’.
Renee Zellweger
One of the best actresses of this generation, Zellweger has always been a stalwart in acting. She also started her career with the TV show, but later started acting in movies. Zellweger gained prominence with ‘Me, Myself & Irene’ and she did not look back after that. Amazing performances in movies like ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’, ‘Chicago’, and ‘White Oleander’ garnered her more fame.
She received her first Academy Award for playing Ruby Thewes in the 2003 movie ‘Cold Mountain’ and had to wait for 16 long years to get her second Oscar for playing the iconic singer Judy Garland in the film ‘Judy’. Apart from that, she has four Golden Globes and two BAFTAs.
Cynthia Erivo
Erivo is one of the most promising talents in Hollywood right now and made an amazing first impression in the movie ‘Widows’. She went on to act in the movie ‘Harrier’ and garnered two Oscar nominations for the movie, including best actress. The actress will be playing the role of iconic singer Aretha Franklin in season four of the series ‘Genius’.
Kristen Wiig
Famous for her comic timing, Kristen Wiig is truly one of the most talented actors out there. The actress made a long-lasting impact on the minds of the people by amazing performances in ‘Saturday Night Life’ which made her earn seven nominations at the Primetime Emmys over the years.
She got her first Oscar nomination for writing the screenplay for the movie ‘Bridesmaids’. Her work in films includes ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl', ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, ‘The Martian’, ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Downsizing’ and ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’.
She recently played the role of supervillain Cheetah in the movie ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ alongside Gal Gadot.
Awkwafina
Born on June 2, 1988, as Nora Lum, she is known professionally as Awkwafina. She has played supporting roles in the comedy films ‘Ocean's 8’ and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and her first-ever leading role in the comedy-drama 'The Farewell’ earned her a nomination for Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
More presenters will be revealed for the next weekend’s show, which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return to host virtually from the Rainbow Room in Manhattan and the Beverly Hilton, respectively.
