Jason Sudeikis, who won the audience’s heart for portraying the role of Ted Lasso in the series with the same name on AppleTV+, won the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy at the 78th edition of the Golden Globes. This was his very first Golden Globes win. The coveted award ceremony was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler from New York City's Rainbow Room and Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills respectively.

The win for ‘Ted Lasso’ was also the first for Apple TV+. He won the big award against actors such as Eugene Levy for ‘Schitt's Creek’ (Pop TV), Nicholas Hoult for ‘The Great’ (Hulu), Ramy Youssef for ‘Ramy’ (HBO) and Don Cheadle for ‘Black Monday’ (Showtime). The show was also nominated in the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, but unfortunately lost to Pop TV’s ‘Schitt’s Creek’. ‘Ted Lasso’ follows the story of a US football coach of the same name, who heads to the UK to manage a London football team with a limited understanding of the game.

‘He got super high and threw on a hoodie’

Sudeikis was all over the internet after his first win but instead of talking about the same, social media users focused on the hoodie the actor was wearing while accepting the award from his home. Sudeikis was spotted in a tie and dye hoodie as he accepted his first Golden Globes over a video call.

The internet was in no mood to spare the actor for his casual appearance. A lot of social media users stormed Twitter to make fun of the actor saying he got high and got the hoodie on. Speaking on the same, one person tweeted, “@jasonsudeikis is possibly very high. #GoldenGlobes.” Another stated, “This loser is in a hoodie, uncles hair and didn’t bother to shave. And he sounds drunk. @jasonsudeikis #GoldenGlobes.” The next one shared, “All the women at the #GoldenGlobes: hair, makeup, designer gowns. Jason Sudeikis: stoned, in a hoodie.”

Another added, “In that hoodie, Jason Sudeikis is cosplaying Ted Lasso, the coziest, warmest, most hygge TV show of 2020. #GoldenGlobes.” One individual said, “The Golden Globes are nonsense but Ted Lasso was perhaps my most comforting pandemic watch and I’m so happy for Jason Sudeikis and his hoodie,” and the next one concluded, “Jason Sudeikis figured Eugene Levy had it in the bag, so he got super high and threw on a hoodie and said “Okay let’s do this thing” #GoldenGlobes #jasonsudeikis #TedLasso #whatjusthappened.”
