Golden Globes 2020: HBO's 'Succession' wins Best TV Series — Drama beating 'Killing Eve' and 'The Crown'

Jesse Armstrong's American satirical comedy series pips a formidable list of shows to walk away with the award

Jesse Armstrong's American satirical comedy series, 'Succession', won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series— Drama.

The series centers on the fictional Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of a global media and hospitality empire who are fighting for control of the company amidst uncertainty about the health of the family's patriarch, Logan Roy.

The series stars an ensemble cast featuring Hiam Abbass, Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, and Rob Yang, with Dagmara Domińczyk, Arian Moayed, and J. Smith-Cameron.

Talking about the award, creator Jesse Armstrong said: "Thanks to HBO for their support and for everyone else on the show and Congratulations on the show for all those who worked on the show." 

Other nominees for the award included 'Big Little Lies',  "The Crown", 'Killing Eve', and 'The Morning Show'.
