For all the fans of the Discovery Channel documentary-series ‘Gold Rush’ and it’s spin-off ‘Gold Rush: White Water’ -- currently in its third season -- a show absolutely not worth missing is ‘Gold Rush: Dave Turin's Lost Mine’.

The docu-series that is soon to begin its second season will be focussed on Helena, Montana, where according to TV Showcase, there are 3,500 abandoned mines. So, in that regard, the second season will be different from the first one where he traveled across the U.S. in search of the precious yellow metal.

Release date

‘Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine’ will return on the Discovery Channel February 21.

Plot

Just like the plot of ‘Gold Rush’ and ‘Gold Rush: White Water’, it’s a man and his crew in search of gold. According to the Discovery Channel, “The stakes couldn’t be any higher as Dave and his team go up against the clock in a search for gold before the winter freezes the land out completely. If that wasn’t difficult enough, Dave has set a gold target of 400 ounces this year.” That amount of gold is worth roughly $600,000.

Like all seasons and spin-offs of ‘Gold Rush’, this too is a race against time. It would be a grueling experience, filled with the dangers of nature’s fury. This show, however, also explores the idea of mining old claims. It also focuses a lot on the history of these areas.

Cast

Turin was part of the original ‘Gold Rush’ crew and was part of the docu-series for seven years, before finally leaving the show in the seventh season.

Speaking to the Helena Independent Register while shooting the second season, Dave said, “I love Montana, I love the people.” He added, “There’s a difference between people that just say, ‘Hey, if you need anything just call me,’ and you know if I call them they’re going to be somewhere else. Here in Montana, when somebody says call me if you need something, I believe them because I’ve done it. Part of that I think is the mining community but also it’s Montanans.”
