'Godfather of Harlem': Who shot Bumpy Johnson in 'Master of War'?
This review contains spoilers for ‘Godfather of Harlem’ episode 7: Master of War
‘Master of War was the beginning of what could rightfully be called Bumpy Johnson’s (Forest Whitaker) battle of Harlem. It has been a rough ride for the man and episode 7 just worsens it for him. In what could be called a cliffhanger, he is shot by an unknown assailant and social media has been flooded with fans discussing who the shooter could be. However, for those terribly worried, Bumpy will most definitely live and be back with a vengeance, until then it’s speculation time.
Vincent D’ Onforio will be looked at as the most obvious choice for his bitter rivalry with Bumpy. One of the possibilities is that he’s tasked Ernie (Rafi Gavron) to do the job and the loyal henchman has done exactly that. The last couple of episodes have seen Chin as a wily customer who checkmates Bumpy’s every move and this could be looked at as an opportunity to put the man down for the count. Should Ernie know that Stella is siding with Bumpy, the rage could have triggered the move.
The other option is someone from Guapo’s (Luis Guzman) family after Bumpy reluctantly shoots him for being the insider in episode 6 ‘Il Canto de Malavita’. While this may probably come across a far-fetched theory considering that his next of kin haven't really been shown. However, GoH fans have left nothing to chance as they seem to have been mulling over every possible option to see who could nurse a vendetta over Bumpy.
The latest attack on Bumpy is sure to send shockwaves through his camp and it remains to be seen how this impacts Elise (Antoinette- Crowe Legacy) and Mayme (Ilfenesh Hadera) given that their reunion was witnessed by Bumpy and there was a feel-good moment.
What are your thoughts on Bumpy being shot?
