'Take a bow Paul': Paul McCartney's DUET with John Lennon leaves Glastonbury awestruck
Glastonbury 2022 saw the 80-year-old rock legend Paul McCartney taking over the stage on Saturday, June 25 making him the oldest ever solo star to headline the coveted music festival. And, if this was not enough the iconic crooner also performed a virtual duet with his former Beatles bandmate John Lennon quickly sending his fans into a tizzy.
To put a cherry on the cake, Sir Paul McCartney also brought Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and rock veteran Bruce Springsteen to completely serenade the audience at Glastonbury. They belted out hit singles like ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, ‘Band on the Run’, ‘Glory Days’, and ‘I Wanna Be Your Man.’ This was only the second time when Paul McCartney marked his attendance at Glastonbury. He first played here in 2004. Social media users were quick to praise the singer for how at the age of 80 he performed brilliantly for more than two hours.

Paul McCartney duets with John Lennon
Paul McCartney surprised the audience at Glastonbury when he broke into a virtual duet with his late friend John Lennon. He linked up with the late crooner during ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ by isolating his solo vocals. While introducing the track, McCartney asserted, “I’ve got a special little thing here. One day, Peter Jackson rings me up and says he can take John’s vocals and isolate them so that you can play live with Kohn on tour. He said do you fancy that?” “That’s so special for me man,” added McCartney following the collaboration. “I know it’s virtual but come on – it’s John. We’re back together.” Paul McCartney marked his 80th birthday on June 18. He had celebrated it during the last leg of his ‘Go Back’ tour.

‘He’s 80 years old and smashing it’
“Given he's 80, pretty amazing. Thought the sound was off earlier but seems OK now”, said one fan praising the rock icon’s age as another chimed in, “He’s 80. He’s played over 2 and a half hours. The last hour was as good as it will ever get. He’s a song writing genius. We’re lucky he’s touched our lives. He’s SIR Paul McCartney. Take a bow Paul … that was unbelievable.” The next one tweeted, “Why are people complaining that Paul McCartney is playing songs they don’t recognise. He has a back catalogue going back more than 60 years, he can’t please everyone. Also he’s 80 years old and smashing it, so f**k off!”
One user stated, “Sir Paul McCartney rocking Glastonbury, at nearly midnight, at the age of 80, playing some of the greatest songs in music history with the enthusiasm of a teenager. Brilliant.” Another joked, “Paul McCartney is 80 and is headlining Glastonbury at 10.30pm. I’m 43 and going to bed @ 9pm.” And, an individual concluded, “Anyone criticising Paul McCartney tonight can f**k right off, he's 80 and is the most culturally important bloke this country has produced in a hundred years, he's beyond criticism, so bollox off.”
