Paul McCartney wrapped up his ‘Got Back’ tour with a bang as he also used the occasion to mark his 80th birthday. The former Beatles member will surely remember this birthday as he celebrated the big day in the company of rock icons namely Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.
 
Paul McCartney’s birthday falls on June 18 but the rock veteran’s big day was celebrated in a big way on June 16 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. McCartney and Springsteen have earlier collaborated several times over the years where the most memorable including a performance for Hard Rock Calling 2012 at London’s Hyde Park. Jon Bon Jovi too landed on stage on Thursday as he got balloons for the birthday boy while 60,000 spectators crooned ‘Happy Birthday’ for the rock legend. For the unversed, McCartney performed 38 songs at MetLife, 20 of them Beatles songs.

Paul McCartney belted out his hits like always but also crooned with Springsteen for a performance on the latter’s ‘Glory Days’ and the Beatles’ ‘I Wanna Be Your Man.’ Social media users seemed excited with icons like Springsteen and Jovi making McCartney’s 80th extra special.
 
McCartney, while introducing the song ‘Birthday’ asked the audience, “Has anybody in the audience got a birthday?” to which Jovi replied, “I know it’s somebody’s birthday, while appearing from the wings with the balloons. After wrapping his tour, McCartney will be headlining the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival on June 24.

‘Two of the best musicians of all time together on one stage’

Reacting to Paul McCartney’s iconic birthday celebrations, one user stated, “What an amazing show!! Definitely a fun moment, and special memory, singing Happy Birthday to you with Jon BonJovi. Happy Birthday tomorrow Paul! Cheers to an amazing 80.” Another posted, “And some bonus Springsteen! Best concert I’ve ever been to.” One user asserted, “So great! Two of the best musicians of all time together on one stage. Happy Birthday dear Paul McCartney.”
 
The next one tweeted, “The Boss and The Beatle. IMO it doesn’t get much better than this. I was lucky enough to see them on stage in London….couldn’t believe my eyes!” Meanwhile, one added, “Sir Paul and the Boss have tons of mutual respect, it shows in the way Paul allows the big screen to focus on Bruce by himself.  There was a legendary guest appearance by Paul at an E Street Band show in London where the police shut them down after a few songs.” And, one concluded, “How awesome!!! Paul singing a Springsteen song!!!”
