Musicians like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Pearl Jam, Lizzo, and others had condemned the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark Roe v Wade ruling on Friday, June 24. Following their footsteps Olivia Rodrigo, who on June 25 performed in England at Glastonbury 2022, too called out the Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn abortion law in the US.

The 19-year-old crooner brought Lily Allen on stage as they crooned to the latter’s hit single ‘F**k You’. The latter even showed the middle fingers as a way to protest against the US Supreme Court’s latest decision. However, before breaking into the song, the former Disney star revealed she was “devastated and terrified”. She also called out the names of the justices at her debut at Glastonbury Festival.

‘I'm devastated and terrified’

Olivia Rodrigo addressed the massive crowd at Glastonbury 2022 in England saying, “I'm devastated and terrified.” She told the crowd, “So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this” adding, “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don't give a s**t about freedom." The ‘Sour’ hitmaker concluded, “The song is for the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you! We hate you” before breaking into the song with Lily Allen.  The hit single ‘F**k You,” is from Allen’s 2009 album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.

The US Supreme Court reversed the landmark Roe v Wade ruling on Friday, putting an end to the constitutional right to abortion for women. The 1973 ruling had set in stone the woman's right to an abortion, but now the highly controversial 6-3 decision will allow individual states to permit or limit the procedure. "The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives," the court said. “The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision,” it added in the ruling.

‘It’s the way Olivia didn’t sugar coat anything’

Social media users flocked to Twitter in order to praise Olivia Rodrigo for her latest stunt. “Olivia Rodrigo bringing out Lily Allen to sing F**k You and dedicating it to the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v Wade is not what I expected from Glastonbury but I’m here for it.” Another, on similar lines, shared, “Olivia Rodrigo calling out every member of the Supreme Court on Glastonbury stage and then proceeding to sing fu**k you by lily allen. we have to Stan.” One user added, “Olivia Rodrigo and Lily Allen singing F**k You and dedicating it to the Supreme Court, live on stage at Glastonbury, is one of the best things to happen this year.”

The next one tweeted, “THANK YOU @oliviarodrigo and every artist, athlete, and entertainer who uses their platform to speak out in industries where there is immense pressure to say & do little bc many believe silence is more profitable. Culture matters. Moments like these make a huge, huge difference.”  Meanwhile, one added, “Olivia Rodrigo’s performing at the glastonbury festival & she just called out the supreme court justices who voted to overturn Roe v Wade BY NAME and said a big F**K YOU to them. mind you she’s 19 and in the beginning of her career. this is how you use your platform” as, another concluded, “It’s the way Olivia didn’t sugarcoat anything and directly addressed the issues.”
