Girl group STAYC bags sixth music show win for 'Run2U', fans say 'this feels unreal'

STAYC’s ‘Run2U’ defeated Taeyeon’s ‘INVU’, giving the six-member girl group their sixth win for the single without a music show appearance

Gone are the days when music show wins were limited to groups coming from big K-pop labels. STAYC marked a new career-high by winning a second trophy at KBS’ ‘Music Bank’ with their last released hit single ‘Run2U’ (RUN2U). STAYC members are trying their hand at world domination one music show win at a time.

On March 11, STAYC recorded their ninth music show win since its debut as they bagged the winning spot on KBS 2TV’s music show without an appearance. The single ‘Run2U’ is the title track of their second mini-album ‘YOUNG-LOVE.COM’, which was released on 21 February. This marks STAYC’s second consecutive music show win on ‘Music Bank’, making fans proud about the girl group’s steady rise to the top.

STAYC bags sixth music show win for 'RUN2U'

STAYC who made its debut with the label HIGHUP ENTERTAINMENT back in November of 2020 is one of the rookie girl groups from a small label. Being a part of the fourth generation of K-pop, their popularity is threatening for groups that come from popular labels. Out of the nine total career wins STAYC has bagged so far, six are for ‘RUN2U’; they bagged their first win for the single on March 1 on SBS’ ‘The Show’ and followed it with a second consecutive win on the same show on March 8.

The girl group took another music show win on March 4 on KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’ followed with a second consecutive win today on the same show. Other than these two shows, STAYC also won first place on both MBC’s ‘Show Champion’ on March 9 and Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ on March 10. Not only did STAYC mark a new high in terms of music show wins but the girl group also recorded a shocking number of album sales in the first week of its release, setting a personal new record with 153k copies sold for ‘YOUNG-LUV.COM’.

Meanwhile, their latest hit single ‘RUN2U' has been on the ‘Top 100 Popular Songs in Korea’ chart from YouTube Music for two weeks in a row while their music video has also proven STAYC’s global popularity with more than 33 million views making it a overwhelming record for the girl group.
