Why does 'Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045' not have English audio? Fans demand answers
Netflix's new 'Ghost in the Shell' Original Net Anime series 'Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045' is out and it is amazing. With a beautiful animation style and a gripping storyline, this series is bound to be a hit with both fans and newcomers to the franchise.
Picking up fifteen years after the beginning of 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex', the new series looks at a world where a new race of "post-humans" is beginning to threaten humanity's continuation as a species. Fans who watched the show are already taking to Twitter and other social media to discuss the show and the reactions are overwhelmingly positive.
"The new Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 kicks a**," one fan tweeted. "That final shot has me needing more. HOT TAKE: This style of animation is really pretty. I usually hate CG anime, but this one is done VERY well. GIVE ME SEASON 2 ASAP PLEASE."
"I watched episode 1 of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045," another fan declared. "I think the show is a 9.0 out of 10."
However, while the show is definitely a lot of fun in the original Japanese version, the English dub hasn't been added to Netflix yet. Based on a blink-and-miss message displayed by the streaming service at the start of each episode, it looks like they couldn't complete recording the English version before the coronavirus pandemic hit.
While it's unlikely to take away from the show's popularity, quite a few fans are a bit disappointed by the lack of an English audio track. "@netflix where’s the english dub for ghost in the shell 2045?? it says pending," one fan asked on Twitter. "Aw, the English dub for the new Ghost in the Shell series isn't available yet?" Another fan wrote. "I really like the English language cast so I'm gonna wait methinks."
"Oi @netflix how come that Ghost in the shell: SAC_2045 has an English dubbed trailer, on the front page no less, but doesn't have that as an option when watching the first episode. Or the rest of the series for that matter?" Another fan asked adding, "P.S. Absolutely love the series."
Yet another fan tweeted, "@netflix why I can’t watch Ghost In The Shell: SAC 2045 in dubbed instead of subbed, is there a bug in the system? 🤷🏾♂️"
Hopefully, Netflix will be able to add the English track to the series sooner rather than later, though that might depend on how the pandemic situation progresses.
