'Frasier' on Paramount +: The new tease from revival series creates a major plot hole
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After 'i Carly', Paramount + is reviving yet another of the beloved shows to the streaming platform. The show is none other than the beloved spin-off 'Frasier'. Kelsey Grammer portrayed the role of Dr Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist, who was introduced in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning sitcom 'Cheers'. The character became so beloved that it led to its spin-off 'Frasier', which undoubtedly became a hit among audiences. And now, Paramount + is set to recreate the magic once again for the screens.
It has been confirmed that the upcoming revival is set to be the sequel to 'Frasier', marking the next new chapter in Dr Frasier Crane's life. The upcoming series will see Bebe Neuwirth reprising her role as Lilith Sternin, the ex-wife of Frasier. Apart from Kelsey Grammer's Frasier, the confirmed actors to play in the series upcoming series includes Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan Cornwall, Frasier's old college friend, Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frederick "Freddy" Crane, Frasier's son, Anders Keith as David, Frasier’s nephew, Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Freddy's roommate and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia.

The potential plothole
Though the official plotline of the upcoming series is kept under wraps, the recently released pic had hinted at the name of the city from where the show would take place. Paramount+ had confirmed the location of the revival to be in Boston, giving a full circle moment to the show through a picture of the boarding pass that shows us a trail from Seattle to Boston. To give some context, 'Cheers' took place in Boston and Frasier moved to Seattle to reconnect with his father Martin Caine. for the spin-off show. Now, it seems like the titular character is returning to his memorable town once again. Though the revelation evokes nostalgia, the said place seems to create one of the biggest plotholes in the story before it even plays out.

To recap quickly, 'Frasier' ended with Frasier Crane, saying goodbye to Seattle and moving to Chicago. And it also seems like a reasonable thing to assume that the character had spent at least a decade's worth of time in the city, before returning to his home ground. Making him come from Seattle just contradicts the finale of 'Frasier'. However, there is a strong, yet tragic reason that would explain Frasier is in Seattle right now. It would be the passing away of John Mahoney, the actor who played Martin Caine. And Paramount + is expected to honor and address the late actor. And if the news of the demise of his father is the case the reason for Frasier to return to Seattle makes much sense.
The full-circle moment
As the upcoming revival is set to explore Frasier's being with his son as hinted by the title of the first episode 'The Good Father', revoking the title from the first episode of 'Frasier', which was titled 'The Good Son'. And it is safe to assume that the death of his father promotes Frasier's order to connect with his son, resulting in his return to Boston.
And the new rendition was not an easy task. Actor Grammer had been trying to get a green light for the series for a long time and at one point even went on to the point of giving up. And in 2022, Paramount + finally accepted the series' next chapter.
The upcoming 'Frasier' is set to have a total of 10 episodes and is set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+. The series is set to air sometime this year.
