‘Flip or Flop’ Season 9: Christina and Tarek bring back old chemistry, turn tiny backyard home into comfy abode
‘Flip or Flop’ Season 9 first episode just came out and fans can’t keep calm. This HGTV production was one of the most popular shows on the channel and it’s been a wild ride for ex-husband and wife Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa.
Thankfully, there is no awkwardness between them and they were able to bring back the magic on screen just like they before. As a refresher, Anstead and El Moussa were married from 2009 to 2017. During their marriage, they had two children together, Taylor and Brayden El Moussa. They filmed seven seasons of 'Flip or Flop' together. Even after their split, the pair decided to continue working together on the show. The premise of ‘Flip or flop’ is that the real estate investors buy a property, flip it in the best possible way fighting all sorts of unforeseen obstacles (bug infest, rancid smell, plumbing issues, wiring) and sell it at a higher price. The transformation of the house from its pre-existing condition to a modern day friendly comfortable house is really amazing.
Christina and Tarek revamps a tiny old backyard house for the very first episode of Season 9. The house had a certain erriness about it with windows on the roof and a kitchen that leads to another creepy room that one needs to walk through in order to go to the backyard. The second room came as a surprise since Tarek was told it was a one bedroom and bathroom house. They later find out that it's a backyard patio out of which the predecessor built a second room and an attached washroom.
Tarek being his ambitious self decides to flip it into a two bedroom and bathroom house and sell it at a much higher price than he had originally thought of but later decides to turn it into an open patio to give the house a more modern feel. There were also a few cute moments shared between Christina and Tarek as the two goof around with each other and some healthy flirting when Christina says, “you look different, you shaved off all your body hair” to Tarek. Tarek El Moussa is currently dating 'Selling Sunset’ star Heather Rae Young and both of them are engaged.
The backyard house, purchased at $450,000, needed some serious revamp and re-construction, the cost of which went a soaring $93,000. The end result was magical and beyond imagination. The original bedroom looked big and spacious post flip with an accommodating closet (Tarek ended up getting locked inside the closet by Christina), the kitchen was armed with modular equipment and the patio area was completely reconstructed with modern white furniture and an open backyard. They decided to sell it at around $640,000.
