On the new episode of the year, HGTV’s 'Fixer to Fabulous' is back with renovators Jenny and Dave Marrs and they have some fun Mediterranean-inspired ideas for the Walker family. While it’s becoming a recurring theme for the duo to bring such influence, we are not complaining. The official handle of HGTV posted a video of the before and after of the transformation with the caption, “Is this house in Arkansas or the Mediterranean?”

Here’s what you must have for Mediterranean-influenced designs. Black and white themes for the outside walls of your house with relaxed patio furniture and almost always a fireplace to go with it. Carry on the black and white theme inside the house with the walls and the furniture. If black is too bold for you switch to a dark green color for the doors and don’t forget the gold-finished handles and fixtures.

Pick one of your walls in your living space to be the hero wall and add stone finished tiles on it. Usually, the Marrs pick the wall with the fireplace and turn it into something more interesting like they did this time. Nothing screams Mediterranean more than a stone wall with a fireplace. Feel free to add antique furniture like a dining table with ancient design legs and paint it all in rustic white.

We saw a lot of black, green and gold in the kitchen and we loved it. As Jenny Marrs confessed on Instagram herself, the kitchen was her favorite part of the renovation. She wrote, “It’s Tuesday! Time for the first new episode of Fixer to Fabulous in 2021!”

“The Mediterranean-inspired kitchen in tonight’s episode is one of my favorites of this season — I can’t wait for you all to see it! And, since it’s apparently becoming a theme for us, we have a surprise up our sleeves for the Walker family — this time, it’s for the kiddos. I think Dave would claim this as one of his favorite projects because it made him feel like a kid again and brought up fun memories of his own childhood.”

Use black through small details like the light fixtures above the island or make the island top itself in black. Make sure it’s not too dark and kind of a rustic, matte black that will blend in easily with the rest of the decor. You can use green on the cabinets and white on the walls and chairs. They maintained hardwood floors throughout the house and we love it.

Watch ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ every Tuesday at 9 pm ET/PT on HGTV.
