LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Firefly Lane' final season has proved itself to be a complete tear jerker for Netflix and all the best friends that are watching the series. Speaking of the series, the  drama streaming television series is created by Maggie Friedman for Netflix. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah. In the last episode, we see how Sarah Chalke's Kate Mularkey narrates how it has been ten years since she got sick. It’s Yael Yurman's Marah Ryan’s wedding. Kate and Katherine Heigl's Tully Hart praise each other for raising Marah well. Kate thanks Tully for sticking with Marah. But Tully tells her it was all her  “She is the best of you.” But then there’s a knock on Tully’s hotel room door. When she turns around, Kate is not there. Kate has died. Tully was imagining her. So, we know that Kate has died but what we don't know is what was in the box that Kate left for Tully.

What was in the box Kate left for Tully at her funeral?

After another vision of Kate riding a horse, experiencing pure freedom, we’re taken to her funeral, where Mutt, Kate’s mom and brother, Cloud and Danny, and Tully are giving their condolences to Johnny and Mara. “I don’t think I can go in,” Tully tells Johnny. “She figured,” he replies. “She left something for you.” He hands Tully a black box before heading inside, and Tully makes her way to a nearby bench to see what’s inside. “I know you won’t be able to attend my funeral…you’re not the fucking star,” a letter from Kate begins. Inside the box is a copy of Firefly Lane, and the letter explains that Kate wrote down every funny, awful, embarrassing thing she can remember from their friendship. As she lists off memories, we see them play out on screen and realize this entire series — every flashback and time jump — has been a moment worthy of Kate’s book.

How does Kate die?

In 2006, Kate and Tully catch up in the same house. Tully heads inside to get them a drink. Kate looks out at the sea view and takes it in. She smiles and closes her eyes, remembering the happy time she rode on a horse. She’s at peace, finally. And then, her head tilts as she dies peacefully. Tully returns to see her best friend dead. It’s fitting that she died spending time with her best friend, Tully, but this scene is extremely painful.

'Firefly Lane' Season 2 Part 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
