'Filthy Rich' Episode 8: Why did Hagamond kidnap Jesus, will he be accepted back into the 1820?
Spoilers for 'Filthy Rich'
We'd like to jog your memory -- in Episode 6 'Hebrews 9:15' of FOX's 'Filthy Rich', Reverend Paul Luke Thomas (Aaron Lazaar) fired the 1820 (the gang's name) enforcer Hagamond Sheen (Thomas Francis Murphy) calling him a liability. To that Hagamond had replied that he was a witness, not a liability. In the same episode, Townes Dockerty (Carl Palmer) was found dead in Paul's room which was presumed a suicide by the Reverand, until we all heard Hagamond saying, “Carry on, false prophet. Carry on.” Since then, Hagamond has been watching everyone's moves and in this episode titled 'James 4:1' he watches Becky Monreaux (Olivia Macklin) from the parking lot as he mutters to himself about the "final hour and the Anti-Christ."
Later in the episode, we see that Hagamond broke into the motel room and hits Becky over the head with a telephone. When Eric Monreaux (Corey Cott) heard the commotion while in Rachel's (Aqueela Zoll) room, he goes to see what happened and Rachel goes to check on Antonio Rivera's (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) son, Jesus. Just then, we see that Hagamond has kidnapped Jesus. Now, we don't know if this man is an extreme religious lunatic, or if he's trying to get back into the 1820.
Since Yopi Candalaria (Alanna Ubach) didn't stick to Don Bouchard (Kenny Alfonso) and Pauls' rules that said her son Anotonio had to fix the fight and lose, they needed to have something on her. We don't know if Paul called in Hagamond for a favor, or Hagamond was doing this as a way to make himself available as Paul's henchman again. If so you might be wondering why he hurt Becky? Becky is Paul's sister, so was that revenge? There is not much that has been said about Hagamond, and now suddenly, with two episodes of the series left, he's become a central character. Will he blackmail or extort Antonio and Yop for cash since he has Jesus now? Hagamond speaks to himself a lot, sometimes about the scriptures, sometimes about the "final hour" -- so we're not really sure what role he's playing in the plotline as of yet.
We're thinking that since having Jesus would lead to the 1820 having a one-up on Yopi who had now betrayed them, Paul could take Hagamond back. That would be an interesting scenario considering there's always dirty laundry that needs to be hidden with the 1820. Fans were devastated that Jesus was kidnapped, with one fan tweeting, "Oh My Goodness! Not Jesus! @FilthyRichFOX #FilthyRich #FilthyRichFOX." Another wondered if he hurt Becky to kill her child writing, "So is Haggard man going to steal baby Jesus and try to murder Becky's baby? #FilthyRichFOX." Another fan even though the religion theme and ran with it asking, "It’s so cute how loved little Jesus is, by everyone. Even those who are considered ‘damaged’ or ‘’unholy’...A metaphor, perhaps? #FilthyRichFOX."
