'Fast X': New director Louis Leterrier reveals intense, 'on-the-fly' rewrites left him sleepless for days
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The tenth installment to the 'Fast and Furious' galaxy 'Fast X' will be coming out in May. There have been many speculations about the production of 'Fast X', as it came to a halt earlier when the former director of the movie, Justin Lin, left the project due to some major disagreements with the film's main lead Vin Diesel. After the incident, Lin was replaced by Louis Leterrier, who is currently leading the movie as the director. Leterrier is best known for movies like 'The Incredible Hulk' (2008) and 'Now You See Me' (2013).
Along with the original cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Charlize Theron, franchise newcomers include Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, and Rita Moreno.

'It was important to bring my flair'
Leterrier talked about the intense hours he spent working on 'Fast X' in a recent interview with Variety. Due to the sudden exit of Lin from the franchise, it took a lot of dedication and long hours for Leterrier to get through the intense project schedule. "I read the script four times on the plane, and I said I had some ideas, and they said, 'Great, because the whole third act is changing. Can you rewrite it tonight?'" Leterrier explained. "I was literally on no sleep. I'd been on no sleep for days." He added, "Obviously, this was not going to be set in stone ... But I was like, 'Okay, yeah, I've got some ideas,' and started writing. And obviously, since the third act was changing, I needed to change the first act. And when you rewrite the third act, and the first act, the second act has to go. So basically I had to on the fly rebuild the airplane," Leterrier added.
What will Louis Leterrier bring to 'Fast X'?
Leterrier spoke about being part of the new 'Fast and Furious' installment and the views and ideas he wishes to fit into the universe. "Well, it was important for me to bring my flair," Leterrier told ComicBook. "My flair is reality, is physics, is bringing the actors into the action, never separating action and storytelling and emotion. Everything is doing a little bit of stirring the pot and bringing everybody into this controlled chaos."
'Fast X' will hit the theatres on May 19, 2023.
