'Watchmen' Episode 2 pays homage to Doctor Manhattan and fans are thrilled by the full-frontal nudity that is a hallmark of the series

The following contains spoilers for Episode 2 of 'Watchmen'
Fans have taken to social media with great amusement as this week’s episode of comic book-based series, 'Watchmen', featured what is arguably the series' most memorable member.
In a low-budget play directed by the unnamed "Lord of the Manor" (Jeremy Irons) titled 'The Watchmaker's Son', his servants recreate the classic origin of Doctor Manhattan.
The scene included an impressive set design, a fiery death and, as many fans were quick to highlight, full-frontal nudity with a bright blue painted penis.
"I was worried they forgot what Watchmen was about," wrote a fan, "then we got the blue d*ck and my worries were forgotten."
Doctor Manhattan's blue nudity was a feature of the character in both the original comic by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon and the movie, by Zack Snyder.
It has also been the source of many a joke about the 'Watchmen' franchise over the years, and it seems that the TV series won't be left out.
"It's not officially a #Watchmen franchise if Doctor Manhattan's blue wang isn't in it," declared another Twitter user.
Some fans were even of the opinion that this was inevitable — though it was still a surprise nonetheless. "Did not think we'd see blue d*ck this soon into #Watchmen, but here we are," wrote another user.
It is not the biggest reveal of the scene, though, as we find out that all the servants gathered there are duplicates of one another, possibly implying that the "Lord of the Manor" is none other than Doctor Manhattan himself.
He could also very well be Adrian Veidt, "Ozymandias", who has been shown to have an eccentric personality, and certainly the scientific capabilities to create clones.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Tom Mison, the actor playing the duplicate, did not perform the nude scene himself. "I'm grateful to say my body double did that. He spent about four hours being raised and lowered, naked, completely painted blue."
The next episode of Watchmen 'She Was Killed by Space Junk' airs on November 3, on HBO.
