LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joseph Quinn is set to step into the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in Marvel's eagerly anticipated 'Fantastic Four' reboot.

He follows in the footsteps of Chris Evans and Michael B Jordan as the third actor to embody this fiery superhero.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Wednesday, April 17, Quinn discussed the weight of filling Evans' beloved portrayal and addressed the superhero fatigue.

He confessed that he admired Evans' take on Johnny Storm and expressed excitement at the prospect of putting his stamp on the character in this reboot. "I remember really enjoying Chris Evans's performance," Quinn said. "It felt like a great opportunity."

Though he acknowledged the pressure, Quinn emphasized his commitment to bringing something fresh to the role.

Marvel Studios announced the cast for 'The Fantastic Four' on Valentine's Day after months of speculation.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Quinn will take on the roles of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Johnny Storm/Human Torch, respectively. Production is slated to kick off in August.

Following a tough year for superhero films at the box office, there's optimism in the industry for a resurgence in 2024 and beyond.

Despite concerns about superhero fatigue among audiences, Quinn believes 'The Fantastic Four' will offer something compelling for fans to see in theaters.

He explained, "We want to get this right with the story of the Fantastic Four. It's different from other Marvel films, which drew me in. The script is brilliant."

Quinn emphasized the importance of investing in characters and their journey.

He continued, "Superhero movies are movies about people. And if we're invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that's why people go to the theaters to watch films. We're not just in a penny; we're in for a pound with this one. We're going to go for it."

Fans agree with Joseph Quinn, blame story and script for 'superhero fatigue'

Many fans echoed Joseph Quinn's sentiments, with one fan saying on X, "There is no superhero fatigue there is just bad movie fatigue. If the movies are good, people will watch them."

Another fan said, "Just make sure the script is good." Agreeing with Joseph Quinn, a fan wrote, "I agree, Fantastic Four deserves a fresh, unique take on screen."

Many fans blamed the storytelling for a bad superhero film, with one saying, "No such thing as superhero fatigue, it's what we call bad storytelling fatigue." One fan commented, "That's great to hear! Getting the story right is crucial for the success of any movie, especially one as iconic as the Fantastic Four. Can't wait to see it unfold!"

Believing in the direction 'Fantastic Four' is headed, a fan said, "While there is probably some superhero fatigue. I think the direction they are taking the movie is quite intriguing. Alternate universe Jetsons style future inspired by the 1960’s. It could invigorate the MCU. Just be creative with the product and have good writing. I think that all that Fantastic Four needs to do to become a box office success."

Another fan wrote, "Love that it seems like the script is on the right track, but as long as it doesn’t have studio interference like Fan4stic, it’ll be worth it."

While another added, "Bad movies and poorly marketed (Solo ) ones do bad. Simple as that. He's right. All movies are movies about people at their core. We either care for those stories or we don't."

The Fantastic Four is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
