'Disturbing': DJ Soda fans furious after American Airlines staff force her to take off her pants
Hwang So-hee, well-known by her stage name DJ Soda, narrates the horrific tale of being kicked out of a flight recently because of her choice of clothing, and fans believe this is racism and sexism at its peak. DJ Soda is a South Korean DJ under Highline Entertainment and has built her reputation of being a frequent headliner for several Asian music festivals over the years. In a chilling Twitter thread, DJ Soda talks to her fans about the horrific incident that took place with her while she was on a flight with the airline, American Airlines.
DJ Soda first highlighted the incident with a video of herself standing with her manager as they talked to the staff of American Airlines. In the Tweet, she said, “I GOT KICKED OFF FROM @AmericanAir flight and they harassed me to take off my sponsored @RIPNDIP 'F**K YOU' sweatpants in front of people to board again.” She stated that because the pants had the phrase “F**K YOU” written all over them, the DJ was asked to leave the flight and board the next one.

DJ Soda accuses American Airlines of harassment
Before completely announcing her boycott of the airlines, DJ Soda wrote, “Yesterday coming back from JFK to LAX with American Airlines, I was harassed and humiliated.” She adds that she was forced out of the plane and was harassed into taking off her pants in front of the flight crews at the gate. She also added that she never faced this issue in the past when she wore the same pair of pants before. DJ Soda revealed that she had been touring in North America, wearing the same set of sponsored sweatpants. She also claims that the airline did not have any problem with her wearing the same set of pants during the time of her check-in not while she boarded the plane and took her seat.
The popular South Korean DJ told fans her story saying, “A staff suddenly approached me to pack up my belongings and leave the plane without any kind of explanation. As I was escorted off the plane, they claimed that my sweatpants were “inappropriate” and “offensive” telling me that I need to take the next flight.” The DJ revealed that she had an important meeting to attend in LA and could not afford to miss the flight which is why she pleaded to be allowed to stay on the flight. DJ Soda claimed that her requests to change the pants had been declined she was shockingly made to take the pants off in public, in front of the entire crew. She recalled, “They even sarcastically commented that I could have taken off my pants earlier.”
DJ Soda claims that she was allowed to re-enter the flight after she wore them inside-out and recalls being mortified and trembling in fear for the next six hours on her flight back to LA.” She highlights, “In my eight years of touring, I have never experienced or been treated unfairly, especially in a country that is known for its freedom of speech and individuality. From now on, I will be boycotting @AmericanAir and hope this NEVER happens to anyone ever again.”

'Stop Asian Hate'
The airline since has responded with a generic message saying, “It's important to us that every customer feels welcome and valued every time they fly. Please DM your record locator and contact info.” but fans of Korean Entertainment who are already fueled by the racism against Asians are now calling the airlines out for their unfair treatment of DJ Soda on so many accounts. One fan said, “So this is how you make your customers feel “welcomed” and “valued”? You demand them to remove their pants in front of everyone (even though it wasn’t an issue before) to humiliate them? Then tweet a halfassed pre-typed standard message: “please dm us, you are valued” when you got called out? Do better than that @AmericanAir. Would that have happened if those pants were worn by someone who’s not a female or Asian perhaps?”
One fan wondered, “I figure this is like a standard reply for anyone who complained and you still have no idea who DJ Soda is?” One fan asked, “Oh, so this is the way you make your customer feels welcome? Dude, we are in 2022. Not 1922. Stop Asian Hate.” One user spoke against DJ Soda to which another fan said, “So it's appropriate to have her take off her pants right there in front of everyone? She did tell them that she want to change her pants but they won't let her.” One user said, “Sorry to hear that. They could have just nicely provided you a blanket to cover your pants. I've seen people in planes with more extreme texts on shirts and hats.”
One user wondered, “The amount of people defending AA in the DJ soda situation. Are yall really that desperate for a free flight that you’re siding with an airline and not a customer who claims she’s been harassed and humiliated to take her pants of in front of other people? Wtf r u to say s**t like.” One user said, “I'm more disturbed about the part that a woman had to take her pants off in front of the crew...that's not ok at all for several reasons.”

I said this on your Instagram post but I'm also going to share it here because it needs to be said. If what you said is true American Airlines handled this all wrong but you also have to take responsibility for wearing the pants too. pic.twitter.com/rWNkSpz52l
