DJ Soda forced to remove her 'F**K YOU' pants on American Airlines flight, trolls say 'no sympathy'
A famous South-Korean DJ claimed she was "harassed" while boarding her flight because of the sweatpants she was wearing. Hwang So-hee, better known by her stage as DJ Soda, shared her experience of being "harassed" by American Airlines crew for wearing her sponsored 'F**K YOU' sweatpants by RIPNDIP on Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday, April 26. She wrote while posting a short clip from the incident, “A staff suddenly approached me to pack up my belongings and leave the plane without any kind of explanation. As I was escorted off the plane, they claimed that my sweatpants were “inappropriate” and “offensive” telling me that I need to take the next flight.”
The 36-year-old said she requested to stay on the aircraft and even offered to change, but the crew ignored her. The DJ described the encounter as "humiliating", claiming she was forced to remove her sweatpants in front of airport personnel and cabin workers. She explained, “With my broken fingers, I hardly ended up taking off my pants in front of the whole crew and standing half-naked while they still refused to board me on the flight. They even sarcastically commented that I could have taken off my pants earlier.”

Fellow DJs, musician friends, and fans replied to her post, shocked by what had happened to her and offering their support. One person wrote, “I'm more disturbed about the part that a woman had to take her pants off in front of the crew...that's not ok at all for several reasons @AmericanAir” “No, NO ONE, should have to deal with this-- so sorry this happened to you!! 🥺🥺,” another person added. “This is ridiculous I'd contact the airline if not a lawyer if I were you,” another user remarked.

However, many on Twitter slammed the DJ for not following the airline's dress code. One person wrote, “That's what you get for dressing inappropriately on an airliner, you're on their plane, their rules. You can fly with delta, united, southwest, or even pulling twa back from the grave and they would still kick you out.” “Maybe other airlines didn't previously notice, but it is common knowledge that most major airlines have dress policies that prohibit profanity and vulgarity on their flights. They have every right to protect their customers' values. Sorry. No sympathy here, 🤷” another user remarked. American Airlines, for example, lists in its conditions of carriage, that passengers must 'dress appropriately' while adding that, 'bare feet or offensive clothing aren’t allowed.'

After wearing her sweatpants inside out, DJ Soda was eventually permitted to board her aircraft again. In her Instagram post, she stated that this was her first experience with something like this since she had no difficulties wearing the same sweatpants on flights after performing in the United States for months. The South Korean DJ, who has worked with labelmates SISTAR, has stated that she would boycott American Airlines and hopes that no one else has to go through what she has. Meanwhile, American Airlines has yet to issue an official statement about the event.
