Ex-Momoland member Yeonwoo joins BTOB's Sungjae in MBC K-drama 'The Golden Spoon'
The perplexed boy Seungcheon has finally found his leading lady. After signing BTOB’s Sungjae as Seungcheon, the male lead for the upcoming MBC K-drama titled ‘The Golden Spoon’, the makers of the show have announced their new female lead - actress Yeon-woo. On January 19, Yeonwoo’s agency 9Ato Entertainment announced that the actress had confirmed her appearance on the upcoming drama starring Yook Sung-jae who resumes his acting career after his temporary hiatus while he was in the military.
The MBC drama titled ‘The Golden Spoon’ will be BTOB Sungjae's first K-drama project after his discharge from the military and the show will now star a former member of the girl group Momoland, Yeonwoo. Yeonwoo’s agency announced that the upcoming drama will air in the first half of 2022. Other reports also suggest that DIA member Jung Chae-yeon will also appear in the drama as one of the main leads.

The adventure K-drama is based on a webtoon drama of the same name and has a stellar idol lineup. The upcoming show will be an adventure drama that deals with the story of a child born in a poor family who accidentally finds a gold spoon that promises to let him change his fate with anyone whose life he wishes to acquire.
Reports reveal that Yeon-woo will play the role of Oh Yeo-jin, the female lead of the show that has a pretty appearance and a bold personality. The character of Ye-jin grew up in a wealthy family. With not one but three K-pop idols as the main leads on the show, fans have a lot of raised expectations with the future lineup of the show as well as the chemistry between Yeonwoo, Sungjae, and Chaeyeon.
Yeonwoo bags her first K-drama for 2022
Yeonwoo made her K-drama debut with cameos in the year 2017 tvN K-drama ‘The Liar and His Lover’ as well as the 2018 MBC drama ‘Tempted’. The year 2019 marked her official K-drama debut with the show ‘Pegasus Market’ on tvN as the character Kwon Ji-na. Yeonwoo was last seen on the 2021 KBS drama ‘Dali and Cocky Prince’ as Ahn Chak-hee.
Other than Sungjae, Chaeyeon, and Yeonwoo, producer Song Hyun-wook is in charge of directing the 2021 K-drama ‘Golden Spoon’. Song Hyun-wook was also known for directing K-drama like the 2021 show ‘The King's Affection’ as well as the 2018 drama ‘The Beauty Inside’, alongside the 2017 K-drama ‘Meloholic’ and others. On the other hand, writers Yoon Eun-kyung and Kim Eun-hee, who wrote ‘Winter Sonata’, ‘Nangrang 18’, and ‘Prime Minister and I’, are in charge of the script for ‘The Golden Spoon’ which will release in 2022.
