'Euphoria' Season 2 will need to answer the burning questions about the fate of Rue and Fez

From Rue's current status to whether Fezco is fine and far away from Mouse's reach — there are so many questions haunting us after the extremely chaotic 'Euphoria' finale
UPDATED AUG 5, 2019

This article contains spoilers on the 'Euphoria' finale

HBO's 'Euphoria' just ended its debut season, and left us with so much to ponder over! Rue was able to let go of Jules, but she also spiraled back into substance abuse. Meanwhile, Maddy called things off with Nate and the two decided they should never be together. KittenKween Kat found her prince charming in Ethan, while Cassie was able to be on her own and not in love with a boy for the first time this entire season. So far so good, but that said, there's no denying the multiple questions that the finale left us burning with, which only the second season will hopefully answer. Here are some of them:

Is Rue dead?

We don't know whether that very elaborate song and dance sequence at the very end of the finale was Rue's (Zendaya) passage to the afterlife or not. After she left Jules in the train and was on her way home, a vehicle with bright lights was seen approaching her. She seemed to make it home alright, but the very next moment, she was snorting cocaine again. It gave her an immediate high and she slumped down onto the bed on her back. It looked like she overdosed again, but then we saw her get up and dance through her house's hallways while her mom and sister seemed oblivious to her. The only person who could see her was her dead father, and this has left us confused about the narrator and central character's ultimate fate on the show.

Will Rules reunite?

Are Rue and Jules in Endgame or is this the end for their relationship? (HBO)

On an impulse, Rue and Jules (Hunter Schafer) decided to leave the town and go off to the city where Jules' recent hookup, Anna (Quintessa Swindell) lives. That was after Jules admitted to being in love with both Rue and Anna. But Rue backed out in the last minute, leaving Jules to head away on her own, and that leaves us Rules fans very worried about the couple's future. Will they make it back together or is this the last we see of Schafer on the show?

Is Fezco okay?

Fez (Angus Cloud) was seen going on a masked mission with a clocked gun for the majority of the episode. We saw him threaten a rich doctor to extort a lump amount of money before making it home to pay back Mouse. But Mouse, aka the terrifying drug mafia character, was already at Fez's home, armed with guns and his cronies too. The last we see of Fez, he's standing in his living room, with Mouse staring at him directly, with the darkest sinister look on his face. Knowing Mouse's character, he wouldn't hesitate to kill Fez or even Ashtray for that matter. And as of now, we really don't know how things ended for the ever so precious and wholesome Fez.

What does Maddy do with the CD?

The finale showed Nate (Jacob Elordi) having erection troubles in the middle of sex with Maddy (Alexa Demie). She talks back, he gets abusive, and she discreetly slips out of the house while he's in the shower. But she doesn't leave without sneakily sliding out a CD Nate had kept hidden in one of his books on the bedstand. The CD can be expected to be the recording of his father Cal (Eric Dane) having sex with Jules, and Maddy watches the tape later in the privacy of her home. So Maddy knows what DominantDaddy Jacobs has been up to. Now the question is what she will do with that piece of information?

Who is Nate's third brother?

Remember the family photo through which we found out that Jules' older dating-app motel hookup was Nate's dad? The photo had Nate, his parents, and two other male children. One of them has to be Aaron, whom we have already seen on the show as the black sheep of the family, but what about the third male child? As of the finale, we still don't know who he is. Let's hope season two can answer all these questions!

'Euphoria' season one finale aired on Sunday, August 4, and is available for streaming on HBO.
