Jasmine Cephas Jones
Jasmine Jones was born in London, England, on July 21, 1989, to Ron Cephas Jones and Kim Lesley, although she grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, and Performing Arts. Jones has appeared in a number of independent films, including Titus (2013) and Fairfield (2014). In the original Off-Broadway production of Hamilton in 2015, she played Maria Reynolds and Margarita "Peggy" Schuyler Van Rensselaer. She continued in those roles when the show moved to Broadway, and she stayed with that production until December 8, 2016.
She won a Grammy Award in 2016 for her performance on the Hamilton cast album as one of the primary soloists. In 2020, she received a Primetime Emmy for her portrayal of Tysha in #freerayshawn.
