LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 76th Primetime Emmy Award nominations were revealed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

While Selena Gomez’s fans are celebrating her nomination, others are expressing their outrage on social media.

The exceptional singer and actress received a nomination for 'Best Lead Actress' in a comedy series for her role in Hulu's blockbuster hit, 'Only Murders in the Building'.

Additionally, this marks Selena Gomez’s first acting Emmy nomination, rounding off a remarkable year that saw her winning Best Actress for her role in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pére at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.

However, some fans are critical of Selena’s nomination, arguing that it is undeserved and unfair.

As soon as the 2024 Emmy nominations were released, fans expressed their outrage over Selena’s candidacy, with many deeming it unjust and undeserved.

Fans shared their opinions in a Reddit post, titled, 'Selena Gomez Earns her first Emmy Nomination for Only Murders in the Building.'

A fan labeled Selena as the 'worst part' of the show and said, "She is HANDS down the worst part of the show. Her monotone ass voice is exhausting."

Another fan added, "I'm glad to see I'm not alone in thinking this. Nominating her is a joke. She's just not a good actor and consistently drags the show down."

One agitated fan wrote, "That's just stupid. she's the reason I stopped watching the show." "She’s horrible in it, anti acting," said another fan.

Another fan criticized Selena's acting as bland, saying, "I did not expect her to get one considering she's meh and irritating to me in that show."

One fan said, "Lol, what? She was so bad I stopped watching the whole show because of her!"

One fan made a snide remark, saying, "Haha. She is awful in that show.  Could there be a better indication that the Emmys are a joke?"

"I enjoy her in the show but let's not take away an acting award from a more deserving thespian," wrote another fan. One fan noted, "They really give Emmys to anyone these days."

One fan questioned the significance of the Emmys, saying, "I only could stand to watch the first season, her acting was so poor that I couldn’t continue. Does this Emmy nomination mean she got better or is it just because she’s a brand name?"

'Only Murders in the Building' performed exceptionally well in the 2024 Emmy nominations, setting a show record with 21 nods, including Outstanding Comedy Series, making Selena Gomez the most-nominated Latina producer in the category's history.

The comedy series received two nominations for lead actors for Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep also received nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor or Actress in a Comedy Series.
