'Emergence' Episode 5: Piper remains unaware of Kindred as the duo come face-to-face in a dangerous encounter
'Emergence' cast and showrunners have promised since the very beginning, this ABC drama is going to be more fast-paced than you are used to. Despite the very mysterious beginnings, answers will be given before you have time to contemplate your questions, and they have certainly come through on this promise. In the four episodes of 'Emergence' that have been aired, we have learned that Piper (Alexa Swinton) has supernatural powers, she was part of a science experiment, and finally, she is not human at all, but an AI created in a secret lab of Augur Industries owned by the ominous Richard Kindred (Terry O'Quinn).
In the previous week's episode titled 'No Outlet', we saw Jo (Allison Tolman) contemplating the pros and cons of continuing to protect Piper, despite knowing what she knows about her now. Benny (Owain Yeoman ) tried to explain to her that she may be packaged like a little girl, but there is nothing human about Piper and that she is capable of mass destruction. However, having spent time with Piper, and having seen just how loving and caring she can be, Jo decides to foster her anyway. Furthermore, her biological daughter Mia (Ashley Aufderheide) already thinks of her as a little sister.
Having revealed all the big truths about Piper already, the upcoming Season 1 Episode 5 of 'Emergence' will amp up the drama by making Piper and Kindred meet face-to-face. We know that Kindred thinks of Piper as his property, but from the looks for the trailer for 'RDZ9021', the latter seems to have no idea who the business mogul is. She suspiciously asks Kindred, "Who are you?" as he evilly smiles at Piper.
Meanwhile, Jo is on a mission to take Kindred down with the help of Benny and her ex-husband Alex (Donald Faison) and is even seen telling the latter that it is the only for their family to be safe. However, Kindred is too rich, too powerful, and well-equipped with state-of-the-art weapons (remember the robot dogs that chased Benny and Jo?) Can they do what needs to be done before Piper's "life" is endangered? Watch Season 1 Episode 5 of 'Emergence', which airs on Tuesday, October 29, on ABC to find out.
