Elisabeth Moss fans have a reason to rejoice. While you are waiting for her popular TV show ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ to release its latest season, Moss is all set to star as former Congresswoman Katie Hill in a film adaptation of her memoir ‘She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality’, reports Variety. Here are the details.

Release date

The premiere date of the project has not been revealed yet. We will update this space as soon as we know it.

Plot

According to Variety, Hill recounts her experience as a young woman with no prior political experience in the book, which traces how her charm and common sense helped her win over people in her district and landed her into the halls of Washington. Even though, on the one hand, her confidence helped her gain powerful allies and enraged her enemies, in her personal life she was hiding a cycle of domestic abuse she was trapped in at home. It infamously resulted in the release of intimate photos and the revelation of her personal mistakes that eventually resulted in her resignation.

“I wrote ‘She Will Rise’; to try to take back my story from those who have exploited and twisted it. I also wanted to shine a light on the stories of women whose resilience and bravery gave me strength when I needed it most, and hopefully to provide inspiration to others. Having this larger platform to tell this story, working with the talented team at Blumhouse and Michael, and the incredible Elisabeth Moss as the lead, is more than I ever could have imagined — I am so grateful for the opportunity and look forward to collaborating on this project,” Hill was quoted as saying by Variety.

Cast

Until now, only Moss has been revealed as a cast member. MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) will update this page once more information about the cast is made available. Talking about the upcoming project, Moss commented said, “I am so honored to have the opportunity to portray Katie and to help tell her story. Her strength and work to amplify women’s voices is incredibly inspiring to me and her experiences could not be more important for us to magnify right now. As always, Jason and the Blumhouse team are such incredible partners and Lindsey and I are thrilled to make something powerful with them and Michael.”

Creators

Blumhouse TV will produce along with Michael Seitzman and his banner Maniac Productions, and Moss and her production company Love and Squalor Pictures. As per the report, Hill herself will be on board as an executive producer. Moss and Lindsey McManus will produce for Love and Squalor, Seitzman for Maniac, and Jason Blum for Blumhouse. Seitzman is also attached to the screenplay. Blumhouse TV’s Jeremy Gold is also on board as an EP. Talking about the project Blum said, “We pursued this project because we believe in Katie and her message of empowering women and breaking the system. And with Elisabeth and the force of what she brings on and off the camera, we hope this will be a powerful vehicle to inspire and for change.”
