'Dream Raider': 5 things you need to know about Asian sci-fi thriller on HBO Max
While James Gunn's 'Peacemaker' is the series set to garner the world's attention on Thursday (February 17), 'Dream Raider' is quietly garnering the attention of the US audience. The show was set by HBO Asia as the network's first sci-fi commission and was produced in Taiwan. Per Variety, “Dream Raider” is HBO Asia's 23rd original to premiere since local productions began in 2012.
The Taipei Film Commission and the Taipei Cultural Foundation played a part in the production of the series that has 'The Monkey King 3' director Soi Cheang serving as the EP. And while we wait for the debut on HBO Max, here are some titles you can check out in the meantime: 'Legendary', 'Mortal Kombat' and 'Zack Snyder's Justice League'. When does 'Dream Raider' release and where can you watch it?
Although the show originally premiered in 2020, it hits HBO Max on February 17. The first season comprises eight episodes and although the original audio is in Mandarin, they're subtitled to English.
What is 'Dream Raider' all about?
The official synopsis reads, "In the near future where criminals are able to hack into your mind to commit crimes, the only people that can stop them are the Dream Raiders. The series is set in a dystopian future where a bunch of scientists and cops attempt to unravel a conspiracy that exploits human consciousness, The series sees them use state-of-the-art technology that helps them enter the dreamscape of other people to help seek the truth.
