What makes Firecracker different from the other Supes in her league is that she cleverly disguised her innate disillusionment with Homelander's rule by being excessively supportive on the outside. Her character arc wasn't one without blemish, as she had a history of sexually abusing a minor. The fifth episode saw her receiving a phone call from a reverend from her hometown in Daytona Beach. The reverend pleaded with Firecracker to abandon her circle of lies and come out in favor of the truth.
As a result of the conversation, Firecracker appeared to be visibly conflicted. Moreover, her personal life went downhill after her discreet relationship with Soldier Boy came to light. This naturally leads to doubts surrounding her loyalty, and Homelander eventually took notice. The episode culminated with Homelander confronting Firecracker at her apartment. Giving expression to his feelings of being betrayed, Homelander ultimately murdered Firecracker. The scene sent shockwaves through the franchise's fans, who were quick to take to social media.
