'Dispatches From Elsewhere': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about AMC's anthology series
'Dispatches From Elsewhere' is AMC's new mystery sci-fi anthology series created by Jason Segel and marks the first time Segel is back to television since his hiatus from the small screen.
The president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios, David Madden, said, "AMC has a proven history of finding shows that rise above, in every sense, and we think 'Dispatches From Elsewhere' will be an incredible addition to that club."
"This is a very special project based on a truly unique premise and peopled by vivid characters, all driven by Jason’s wildly creative vision. We're thrilled for audiences to see this bold, witty and enthralling series," he added.
Plot
The official synopsis reads, "'Dispatches From Elsewhere', created by and starring Jason Segel, is centered around four ordinary people who feel there's something missing in their lives, but they can't quite put their finger on what it is."
"This diverse foursome is brought together by chance – or perhaps it's by design – when they stumble onto a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life."
"As they begin to accept the mysterious ‘Dispatches From Elsewhere’ challenges, they come to find that the mystery winds deeper than they imagined, and their eyes are opened to a world of possibility and magic."
The 10-episode mystery anthology series will revolve around a group that finds a puzzle that leads them to a deep mystery. Jason Segel, Sally Field, André Benjamin and Eve Lindley will play every day people caught up in an alternate reality game. Their characters' names are Peter, Janice, Fredwynne and Simone.

'Dispatches From Elsewhere' is set to premiere on March 1, 2020.

Jason Jordan Segel is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, singer, and producer. His first break came with his role as Nick Andopolis in Judd Apatow's series 'Freaks and Geeks' (1999) and is most famously known for his role as Marshall Eriksen in the CBS sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother.'
Sally Field
Sally Margaret Field is known for her roles in 'Maniac' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. Her other works include, 'Smokey and the Bandit II' (1980), 'Absence of Malice' (1981), 'Kiss Me Goodbye' (1982), 'Murphy's Romance' (1985), 'Steel Magnolias' (1989), 'Mrs. Doubtfire' (1993), and 'Forrest Gump' (1994).
Other cast members include André Benjamin, Richard E Grant and Eve Lindley.

Jason Segel serves as series creator, star, executive producer and will direct one episode. This will be his first TV series since 'How I Met Your Mother' while his other work includes 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall,'The Muppets' and 'Sex Tape'.
