'Disenchanted': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Disney's 'Enchanted' sequel
Good news for those who believe in "happily-ever-afters". Patrick Dempsey has confirmed that he would be returning for the sequel of 'Enchanted', which is titled 'Disenchanted'. In the 2007 fairy-tale film, he played a divorced lawyer alongside Amy Adams, a princess who is forced to reside in the live-action world that is set in New York. Dempsey made this revelation during an appearance on 'Good Morning America'. Here's all that we know about the film.
Release date
Dempsey revealed that they are expected to start working on the film in the early spring of 2021, which means that 'Disenchanted' could release at the end of the year or by next year. The official release date has not been confirmed yet. It will release exclusively on Disney Plus.
Plot
The original musical told the story of Giselle, played by Adams after she lands in modern-day New York from her fantasy world and falls for Robert, played by Dempsey. Robert is a cynical divorce lawyer with a child. The film also starred James Marsden, Idina Menzel, Susan Sarandon and Timothy Spall. While Dempsey and Adams are confirmed for the sequel, it is not yet certain if the other actors will return to reprise their roles.
"It was very healing for all of us and very inspiring,” Dempsey had said. “It really felt great to see everybody, to work together again and do it in this way was really unusual and unexpected.” “Amy Adams is so amazing in that film,” he said. “It was a fun project to be a part of.”

Patrick Dempsey became a household name after he starred in the ABC medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy' for 11 years. He played the role of Derek Shepherd, often called "McDreamy" and fans were devastated when he left the show in 2015. The actor made a cameo in the series in Season 17 in 2020, much to the surprise of viewers. Apart from the ABC drama, he has starred in films such as 'Enchanted'. 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'Made Of Honor'.
Amy Adams
Amy Adams made a name for herself with comedic as well as dramatic roles. Her first major success came with 'Enchanted', where she played the cheery princess. She received praise for performances in films such as 'The Fighter' and 'The Master'. In 2013, she starred as Lois Lane in the superhero films set in the DC extended universe.
She has appeared three times in the annual rankings of the world's highest-paid actresses and the feathers in her cap include two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for six Academy Awards and seven British Academy Film Awards.
