Did Hannah Harper leave ‘American Idol’ early? Singer finally breaks silence on rumors about secret deal
If you’ve been keeping an eye on ‘American Idol’ Season 24, you’ve probably noticed one name popping up repeatedly. Sometimes it’s for her performances, and other times it's for things that have absolutely nothing to do with the stage. Hannah Harper recently found herself at the center of a rumor that started picking up speed online. It claimed that she had already secured a deal with Dolly Parton’s label, Butterfly Records, and would be stepping away from the competition before things even reach the final stretch. The chatter began right after Hannah was announced as part of the Top 20. However, she cleared the air as she took to Instagram to address the rumor head-on.
“This @americanidol TOP 20 did NOT sign a contract and leave the competition. The amount of AI and false information floating around right now is honestly mind blowing! Meanwhile I’m over here just smiling, dancing around, and acting like I know what’s going on at @disneyaulani when the truth is I have absolutely no clue,” she wrote. She added, “We’re just gonna keep trusting the Lord and riding this wild wave together.” Her post made it clear that she’s still very much part of the competition and is not heading anywhere, record deal or not.
From the moment she stepped onto the stage for her audition, she stood out, not just for her voice but for the story she brought with her. She performed an original song titled ‘String Cheese’, something she wrote after the birth of her third child while dealing with postpartum depression. Since then, she’s been building momentum week by week. Meanwhile, the March 30 live show didn’t exactly follow the usual format. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the episode kicked off with a quick round of eliminations, cutting six contestants right away. That left 14 singers to take the stage and perform while viewers cast their votes in real time. It was all meant to lead to the reveal of the Top 12 by the end of the broadcast. As the show reached its final minutes, Seacrest returned to announce the results, noting that more than 10 million votes had come in throughout the night.
But, instead of revealing which two contestants would be leaving, the show hit an unexpected pause. Producers made a last-minute call to cancel the elimination entirely due to complications in processing the votes. Hannah Harper remains in the competition, still part of the Top 14, alongside Jordan McCullough, Lucas Leon, Keyla Richardson, Braden Rumfelt, Rae, Jake Thistle, Brooks, Daniel Stallworth, Chris Tungseth, Jesse Findling, Julian Kalel, Kyndal Inskeep, and Philmon Lee. The postponed results are now set to be revealed at the start of the next episode, titled ‘90s Judges’ Song Contest’, which will air on April 6.
