'Deranged Granny': Wendie Malick to Amanda Righetti, meet the cast of Lifetime's suspense thriller

Lifetime is coming up with yet another suspense thriller with its latest flick 'Deranged Granny'. The film directed by Jennifer Liao of ‘Blood and Water’ fame, is all set to thrill the audience with a maniac granny. Produced by Stephanie Rennie and Amanda J Strachan, the film revolves around an overbearing and obsessive grandmother who can go to any length to have her grandchildren by her side.

Powered by the remarkable Wendie Malick who plays Barbara Anders (granny), the movie is full of the vile tactics that she performs to get close to the grandchildren. Further, the cast has Amanda Righetti who plays Kendall Thompson and Dave Baez playing Calvin Thompson. Amanda Righetti

The Utah born actor, producer and Best Actress Award winner by the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, Righetti is known for her roles in short film ‘Matter’, ‘North Shore’ (2004) and ‘The Mentalist’ (2008). The actress is married to director and writer Jordan Alan and shares a seven-year-old son, Knox Addison Alan, with him.

In 2006, Righetti signed to feature as the female lead in the film ‘Return to House on Haunted Hill'. Later, in 2008, she was cast as the female lead in the film ‘Friday the 13’. However, it was her role as Grace Van Pelt in CBS drama series ‘The Mentalist’ that landed her great fame and fortune. In 2015, she was ranked among FHM's 100 Sexiest Women while portraying Jenna Moretti in the popular drama 'Reunion' (2005), as per IMDb. She has also had guest appearances in popular television shows such as 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' (2000) and HBO's 'Entourage' (2004).

Wendie Malick 

The New York-born actress, Malick, is a former fashion model and is known for her roles in many television comedies. Some of her most remarkable roles include Judith Tupper Stone in the HBO comedy ‘Dream On’ (1990) for which she won four CableACE Awards as Best Actress, as per IMDb. Malick reached the peak of stardom with her comic role in sitcom ‘Just Shoot Me!’ (1997). She has previously starred in the series ‘Trauma Center’ (1983), 'Good Company' (1996), 'Baywatch' (1989), 'Kate & Allie' (1984) and 'Frasier' (1993). Malick's canyon of work includes her roles in films such as ‘The American President (1995), 'Scrooged' (1988) and 'Bugsy' (1991).

Dave Baez

The Massachusetts born actor is also a producer and an acting coach. He grew up in a multi-ethnic family, with roots in Portuguese and Puerto Rican culture. Baez cultivated a zeal for the arts, leading him to the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where he majored in theater studies. He has acted in films, TV as well as featured in several advertisements. His television appearances include ‘Days of Our Lives’, ‘The Mentalist’, ‘The Secret Circle’ and ‘All of Us’.

The actor has worked for brands like Bud Light, Craftsman, Honda, Toyota, Verizon and AT&T to name a few. He has featured in films such as ‘The Crow’, ‘La Blues’, ‘9/ Tenths’ and ‘Mothers and Daughters'. To help aspiring actors and counsel them, the actor runs ‘The Dave Baez Acting Studio’ that offers a variety of classes and workshops to refine acting skills. He believes “acting is a natural companion to my thirst for life and intense reflection of my soul. I am keenly aware that an actor's journey never ends, the craft is never perfected but is only built layer upon layer." 

Deranged Granny is slated to release on September 12 at 8 pm ET
