Batman is dead - but the Batfamily lives on. In a world where the Batman has died, the Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl and Robin are left to save the city from what may be one of Batman's greatest threats - the Court of Owls. During the DC FanDome event being held on August 22, WB Games Montreal announced 'Gotham Knights,' and an all new video game set in Gotham featuring Batman's most loyal four sidekicks. The panel showed a trailer for the game, as well as featuring gameplay featured in the game.

The trailer begins with new announcements that Gotham has been attacked, followed by a video from Bruce Wayne to his four sidekicks - Batgirl, the Red Hood, Nightwing, and Robin. Bruce Wayne announces that if they're seeing this video, then he is dead - but he has left a headquarters for the heroes to operate from, known as the "belfry". The four heroes suit up and immediately spring into action, fighting against the various villains plaguing Gotham. The villains featured in the trailer are Mr. Freeze and towards the end, an ominous tease for the Court of Owls, a formidable shadow organization with immortal assassins known as Talons, ready to attack the city.

In a panel hosted by 'Shazam!' actor Zachary Levi, the panel showed actual gameplay footage using the in-game engine. The gameplay shows that all four main characters will be playable within the game, featuring all four playable characters in a mission going up against Mr Freeze. Each of the characters' abilities were showcased, with Robin using high tech, Red Hood using his guns, Batgirl her smarts and grappling gun and Nightwing using his familiar escrima sticks.

Fans are already excited at being able to play other characters in the game. "OMG I NEED GOTHAM KNIGHTS TO PLAY AS RED HOOD ALREADY," writes a fan.

"Gotham Knights looks alright, very cool that they’re moving on from Batman," writes another.

"At first I was sad for no watching other DC families around, but after keep watching, I'm really getting hyped for it, I´m very happy watching other characters from the batfamily getting more balanced relevance and I'm quite sure I´ll be waiting for this in 2021!" says another.
