'Dark Matter' fans triggered over juicy Jason Dessen theory hinting at a major plot twist

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: 'Dark Matter' Episode 6 has given fans enough food for thought before the next episode drops next Wednesday, on June 12, 2024.
Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), accompanied by Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga) from Reality 2, is trapped in liminal space and has been constantly trying to return to his original reality.
With a few trials and errors, they realize that the box operates in sync with the manifestation of their minds.
In the recent episode, Jason gets closer to his reality but feels dejected when it's not quite right. He tries hard to manifest everything correctly but always misses something, preventing him from entering his actual reality.
However, some fans believe that Jason has already arrived in his actual reality and probably hasn't realized it yet.
Fans feel Jason Dessen made it to his reality in 'Dark Matter' Episode 6
In Jason's multiple attempts, we see that it's almost like his own world until it's not. Either the door of his house is different or the signboard of the nearby pub indicates that something is off.
However, fans believe that when Jason and Amanda part ways for a day, something changes. In a discussion on Reddit, a fan pointed out a transition that happens in the middle of the episode, suggesting that Jason might have finally landed in his actual reality.
The fan explains, "So did anyone else catch the "transition chime" when Jason 1 & Amanda met up back at the box? (after blond Daniela rejected him?). I originally thought it was a mistake, but then I figured the show must be up to something. In the next scene (after the chime, which normally tells us that we're switching to the other Jason, but not in this case), we see the scene of Jason 1 & Amanda in the hotel...and Jason 1 talks about surveillance of himself dancing w (an original looking, not blond) Daniela. Is this our next twist? The chime must have meant that they made another attempt at the box where they've found Jason 1's original world??"
When a curious fan asks, "So you’re saying Jason was already back in his universe without realizing it at the end of this episode??” someone explains why it might be true.
A Reddit user says, "They're at their breaking point and I'm guessing they are both mentally and emotionally so exhausted that they didn't even consider that they might be in the right world. Remember how they both sort of went their separate ways? I don't think they were looking out for anything in particular, just sort of taking some time off because they were exhausted."
Several fans have now joined this floating theory as they believe it would make an interesting plot twist. A fan said, "Oh sh-t, you might be right. They've gone so far off the deep end that they can no longer even differentiate between their own world and the world they're in."
He added, "It's a throwback to the conversation J1 and Amanda had about forgetting their world. They're constantly second-guessing themselves and trying to find reasons for why the world they're in isn't "the one"."
Someone negated the theory saying, "I dunno, their conversation in the hotel room made me think they were wrong again, so something must have tipped them off to it. I also can't see Jason 2 and Daniela 1 having an extravagant date night after what had just happened the last time we saw them together."
Introducing another theory, a fan said, "I think it's a bit of foreshadowing. So when the "transition chime" happens and we go from Jason1 and Amanda to, again, who also appear to be Jason1 and Amanda, one of those scenes isn't actually Jason1, it's one of the other hundreds of Jasons who will show up at the end looking for "their" Daniela. So we've subtly switched to a completely different Jason we haven't been introduced to yet. Does that make sense? So neither of them are in Jason1's world but the other two Jason's are trying to reach it."
What's next for Jason Dessen in 'Dark Matter'?
The last scene of 'Dark Matter' Episode 6 suggests that Jason 2 has sealed up the box while Jason is still wandering in different realities, trying to find his own.
Jason 2's sinister action has now made Jason's return impossible unless he has already landed in the reality, as suggested by curious fans.
From this point ahead, three things could happen. If Blake Crouch has kept the plot simple, Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly) would probably find out about Jason 2 and open up the box for Jason to return.
The second possibility could be that Jason landed in this reality before Jason 2 sealed the box and he would now strategically reclaim his life.
It is also possible that Jason 2 reopens the box to change his reality after he gets frustrated with his life with Daniela. We can see that he is already unhappy in Reality 1 and may want to change that, instead of trying to put effort into his relationship.
If that happens, it would open up a possibility for Jason to return and have an epic showdown in the finale episode.
It might also happen that Blake Crouch would introduce a twist totally different from what fans have been speculating so far.
Either way, it would be interesting to see what happens next in 'Dark Matter'.
