Crime and romance are all rolled into what promises to be a slick-thriller. So fans of the dark, gritty and ominous, it's time for 'Dark Forces' which promises to be a harrowing tale that's releasing on Netflix on August 21.

The streaming platform has been churning out numerous crime dramas and films for viewers. While docuseries like 'World's Most Wanted' are awaited with bated breath, 'The Last Narc' left us looking for answers in the Kiki Camarena investigation, and now the film 'Dark Forces' portrays the life of a renegade criminal, who demands some answers, and he isn't going to take no for an answer.

The synopsis reads, "In search of his sister, a renegade criminal seeks answers at a sordid hotel, where he encounters a sinister guest and romances a mysterious waitress."

The trailer for the Spanish film is every bit as eerie as the title. A man reaches a hotel only to encounter some freakish people, who obviously don't mean well by the looks of them. He's warned that "many lunatics and junkies" come to the hotel, and if "he's weak, he's as good as dead". He's determined to find his sister and knows for certain that the hotel has her.

One of the guests tell him, "You and I come from the darkest forces of nature..so get out and do your job!" In the middle, he's managed to find time to romance an eerie waitress too. So, it all remains to be seen whether he manages to overcome the darkness of the hotel and find what he's looking for. Will he fall prey to the hotel or become one of them?

The film stars Tenoch Huerta, Erendira Ibarra and Dale Carley in leading roles. Tenoch Huerta has appeared in numerous Latin American and Spanish films. In 2009, he made an appearance in Cary Joji Fukunaga's film 'Sin Nombre' in the role of Li'l Mago, the leader of the Tapachula faction of Mara Salvatrucha gang. In 2018, he began portraying Rafael Caro Quintero in Netflix's 'Narcos: Mexico'. Ibarra is known for her roles in 'Sense-8', 'Las Aparicio' (2015) and 'Ingobernable' (2017).
