Danny Rand and company are back. At the Thursday line-up of the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel's 'Iron Fist' was one of the first panels from Netflix during which to the delight of many a first-look trailer of the upcoming season 2 was unveiled. From the looks of it, it seems like the Marvel bosses and 'Iron Fist' showrunner Raven Metzner is all set to hit the nail right on the head and address all criticisms to the first season with an action-packed trailer.
"A war is brewing," the trailer begins as Danny Rand's voice fills the background. "This is my city now and it is my duty to protect it and am not backing down." Now that Finn Jones is officially back to reprise his superhero role it remains to be seen what surprises and plot twists are in store for his crew comprising Jessica Henwick (who plays Colleen Wing), Sacha Dhawan (as Davos), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), and Simone Missick (Misty Knight).
In addition to the returning characters season 2 of 'Iron Fist' will also bring in a new face into the mix, actress Alice Eve who will be slipping into the shoes of Mary Walker or as she is better known as, Typhoid Mary. So far, not much has been unveiled about Eve's character, except that she will be joining the cast in an antagonistic capacity and that her character possesses psionic abilities.
The new season of the Netflix series will be picking up the action from the streets of New York City, as revealed by the official plot synopsis.
"'Iron Fist' Season 2 features Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."
The plot tease continues, "Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny, a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Danny has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquer his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart."
Following the lukewarm response garnered by the show last season, all eyes will indeed be on the sophomore run as Danny and gang return to capture eyeballs with their larger-than-life antics. Season 2 will start streaming on Netflix from Friday, September 7 onwards.
