'Dancing with the Stars' season 27: What to expect from the upcoming semi-finals
With just six couple remaining, and several social media debacles circling the eliminations this season, you can expect that the upcoming semi-final night will be special.
ABC's hit reality show, 'Dancing with the Stars' embarked on its 27th season late September this year and is already three days away from its epic Semi-Finale night. With just six couple remaining, and several social media debacles circling the eliminations this season, you can expect that the upcoming semi-final night is going to store something massive for the fans. The competition will heat up in anticipation of the following week’s crowning of the coveted Mirrorball trophy, as this Monday, November 12, the dancing duos will fight to forward their journey on the show, at 8 PM ET/PT on The ABC Television Network.
The couples have been rehearsing day and night preparing to perform two stunning numbers. First, each celebrity will perform a dance style not yet danced, dedicated to a meaningful person in their life. The second is a special Judges’ Choice dance, where each couple will be challenged to perform a style of dance they previously danced, but this time with totally new music in this all-important semi-finals extravaganza. For the first dance, each couple will perform a waltz, salsa, contemporary or Argentine tango. For the Judges’ Choice dance, each will perform a jive, foxtrot, quickstep, salsa or cha cha. The Dedicated Dance scores will be combined with the Judges’ Choice dance scores for a judges’ final tally.
In the personal choice category, Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten will Waltz to “Water” by Bishop Briggs, while Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess will sizzle with a Salsa to “GDFR” by Flo Rida. Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe will hopefully surprise and swoon once again with a Contemporary to “Stand Up for Something” by Andra Day, and fan favorite 'Grocery Store' Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson will present another Contemporary to “This Year’s Love” by David Gray. There will be Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke performing an Argentine tango to “Libertango” from Forever Tango and 'Zombies' star Milo Manheim and Witney Carson will present another Argentine tango to “Pray for Me” by The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar.
In the judges' choice slot, Alexis and Alan will Jive to “Yes” by Merry Clayton, under judge Bruno Tonioli mentorship. Bobby and Sharna are to be mentored by judge Len Goodman, and they will also Jive to “Gimme Some Lovin’” by The Spencer Davis Group. Also under Len's mentorship are Evanna and Keo, who will Foxtrot to “Rewrite the Stars” from “The Greatest Showman”, while Joe and Jenna - mentored by judge Carrie Ann Inaba - will do the Quickstep to “Check it Out” by Oh the Larceny. Juan Pablo and Cheryl are performing a Salsa on “Tu Sonrisa” by Elvis Crespo, which will be mentored by Bruno, and Milo and Witney's Cha Cha to “Good Feeling” by Austin French will be mentored by Carrie Ann.
For week eight, viewers may cast their votes for their favorite “Dancing with the Stars” couples via phone and online at www.ABC.com, beginning from the start of the episode on the East Coast at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST and closing at 4:00 a.m. EST/1:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday.
