'Dancing with the Stars': Will ratings be hit? Johnny and Skai fans threaten to 'boycott' show after stars' exit
'Dancing with the Stars' finale is upon us. For 11 weeks the show entertained its audiences as celebrities took to the stage, displaying their ballroom dancing abilities. 'DWTS' Season 29 found its four finalists after Justina Machado, Nev Schulman, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Nelly received big love from the judges along with perfect 30 scores and that coupled with massive votes from their audiences helped secure their place in the finale. On the other hand Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir and actress, YouTuber, influencer Skai Jackson were booted from the show due to lack of votes.
Johnny received perfect scores for both his performances in the semi-final, he was also one of the best performers on 'DWTS'. Skai too had shown tremendous growth in her dances, her trajectory was commendable and she outshone the rest of her performances in the semi-finals. Both their exits came as a rude shock to audiences after which they took to Twitter to sound off.
"WHY THE F**K WERE JOHNNY WEIR AND SKAI JACKSON ELIMINATED ON DANCING WITH THE STARS?? THE TWO BEST CONTESTANTS DISGUSTING I HATE THAT SHOW," tweeted a fan in all caps. "@DancingABC Dnt think I’ll be watching anymore . They have eliminated Skai and she was damn near the best dancer on set. #itjustwontbethesame" tweeted a fan stating she won't be tuning in for the finale. "Skai Jackson being eliminated from DWTS is some bs. She improved more than anyone on that show. They did her dirty," wrote another. "Nahhh next week we should all boycott the show and not watch it just because they kept nelly and eliminated skai. literally so unfair and julianne was right, it is a popularity contest at this point. #DWTS" tweeted a fan. With so much opposition from fans of the eliminated contestants, it won't be a surprise if ratings dwindle for the finale episode.

Justina, Nev, Nelly and Kaitlyn will return to the ballroom one last time but they won't be alone. Joining in to cheer them on will be ex-contestants. Chrishell Stause, Jesse Metcalfe, Monica Aldama, Vernon Davis, Anne Heche, Charles Oakley, Skai Jackson, AJ McLean and Johnny Weir. Also joining in will be Jeannie Mai who had to exit the show due to health reasons. Carole Baskin will not be joining the finale, she's refused to travel due to Covid-19 restrictions.
'Dancing with the Stars' airs Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
