'Dancing With The Stars' season 28, episode 3: Fans heave sigh of relief after Kel Mitchell is saved due to Ray Lewis injury
'Dancing With The Stars' season 28 returned for episode 3 on Monday night, and this week's theme was 'Movie Night'. And kicking off the show with a bang the contestants began the episode with a grand opening number.
Unlike previous seasons where the series aired the results on Tuesday night, this season, the bottom two and the judges' elimination all take place at the end of each episode. This week after all the contestants were done performing and the voting lines were closed it was revealed that Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd along with Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson were in the bottom two.
While fans and viewers were worried that Kel Mitchell would be getting eliminated, the judges revealed that this week there would be no elimination as Ray Lewis and his pro partner Cheryl Burke quit after the former Ravens linebacker tore three tendons and now has to undergo surgery.
Last week after Ray and Cheryl got a second chance to stay in the competition, things took a turn for worse when the former NFL player got injured while practicing for this week's performance. He ended up injuring himself in the same leg he had previously torn a tendon. Hence the doctors advised him it was best to turn in his dancing shoes.
While that might have been a sad ending for Ray and Cheryl, fans are happy that Kel gets to stay in the competition for another week. Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "If there were an elimination, I would be a complete wreck. Kel does not deserve to go home this early. HOW WAS HE IN THE BOTTOM 2?! #DWTS #AmericaHatesTalent."
Adding to that another fan said, "Seriously people why would you freaking put Kel and Witney in the bottom 2? They didn’t deserve to be there. I’m glad there was no elimination but seriously y’all need to power vote for them next week. #dwts."
"Kel was in the bottom 2 tonight. Got lucky there was no elimination this week. #DWTS," said a fan. While another added, "yeah, there’s no elimination tonight. BUT WHO IS NOT VOTING FOR KEL AND WITNEY LET ME HAVE A TALK WITH YOU. #dwts."
It was quite surprising to see Kel and Witney in the bottom two after their graceful rumba routine to 'My Heart Will Go On' from the movie 'Titanic'. Though they might have lacked a little energy, but their performance was filled with grace and romance. They also received a pretty good score of 20/30 from the judges. Which made it even more surprising to see them in the bottom two.
Luckily there was no elimination, which means we will get to see them back on stage next week.
'Dancing With The Stars' season 28 airs every Monday night only on ABC. Check your local listings for more information.
