D23 Expo 2019: Disneyland's 'Avengers Campus' details released, the superhero-themed land to open in 2020

The Campus will also have a Spider-Man attraction called the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, or WEB headquarters

The D23 Expo 2019 confirmed that a new superhero-themed land will be opening at the Disney California Adventure in 2020. It will officially be called the 'Avengers Campus' and will be home to some attractions based on the movies and comics. This announcement confirms reports that Disneyland has filed for construction permits to build a new project.

Talking about the 'Avengers Campus', Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said, "We’re building an immersive superhero-themed land at Disney California Adventure to enable our guests to join the Avengers to save the world,”

"When guests visit Avengers Campus, they will become part of an interconnected, global story that spans from California to Paris to Hong Kong with the Avengers recruiting new extraordinary people to join them,” read an official Disney Parks’ blog post. The construction permits for the campus has elaborate plans for a microbrewery and an area for fan-superhero interactions, a report in the Los Angeles Times said.

The Campus will also have a Spider-Man attraction called the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, or WEB headquarters. A description of the HQ reads: "The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more.

"As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade — or WEB for short — to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man's suit as their debut project. By bringing together the world's brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth's Mightiest."

In addition to the WEB, the Campus will also comprise of a merchandise store. A 'Doctor Strange' and 'Ant-Man' microbrewery were rumored but has not been confirmed if the existing plans that have a microbrewery will be named after these two superheroes.

As reported by Comicbook, Disney Parks announced its Marvel experiences across Disney theme parks worldwide would be connected through 'Avengers campuses' based at Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The 'Avengers Campus' will open doors in summer 2020.
