The first episode of 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' demonstrated the high stakes of the multiversal conflict that the Arrowverse heroes had been busy prepping for.

Yet, no amount of preparation was enough for the heroes or fans for that matter, as the first part claimed Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) life. The second episode, while it had more light-hearted moments, delivered on some powerful emotional moments and twists.

One of the most significant storylines of the second episode is when Supergirl/Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Kate/Batwoman (Ruby Rose) set out for Earth-99, and meet a cynical and bitter Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy).

Kate and Kara believe that he might be one of the Paragons — seven special people who can save the multiverse. Kara is the Paragon of Hope, and Sara Lance is the Paragon of Destiny. They're yet to discover the rest.

However, there are many unpleasant revelations awaiting them. On this Earth, Kate died five years ago, and murders criminals. This version of Bruce is inspired by 'The Dark Knight Returns', 'Kingdom Come' and 'Batman Beyond', but it is a rather dark and gritty take on the superhero.

Bruce Wayne has become as twisted and haunted as the villains that he had encountered. He has devoted his life to fighting crime and moves with the help of an exo-skeleton, which is a nod to 'Kingdom Come'.

There is a face-off, and Bruce attacks Kara with Kryptonite. Kate steps up and hits back, accidentally electrocuting him in the process. This troubled meeting has a lot of implications.

Kate discovers that she is the Paragon Of Courage, which is the 'Bat Of The Future'. Secondly, Kate returns with some Kryptonite which makes way for internal conflict and a potentially grim and dark future.

Fans are not entirely happy with this outcome and feel that the character of Bruce Wayne could have been treated with more respect. The third episode of 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' will air on December 10 on The CW.
