‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3 Takeaway: How far can Daniel Hegarty go to hurt June Lenker?
Spoilers for ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3
LONDON, ENGLAND: Apple TV+ has officially dropped ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3 and it was packed with action, drama, and stellar performances by Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo who play the roles of DCI Daniel Hegarty and DS June Lenker.
There’s no doubt that ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3 has a lot going on for itself, whether that includes a young boy getting shot, or Lenker’s attempt to dig deeper into a case behind Hegarty’s back.
But if you were looking for some kind of friendship between the two, that most certainly has not happened in ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3, considering Hegarty got Lenker shot…yes, he did.
More than one gunshot
‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3 opens in Rowntree Park, where a young boy is going about his day before he gets shot, straight in the head.
Now, this scene has set the benchmark for just how gruesome and brutal Apple TV+’s crime drama can get, so if the first two episodes weren’t enough for the viewers to brace themselves in, ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3 surely will be.
Now although the investigation into this particular crime is at the very center of the episode, ‘Criminal Record’s latest episode doesn’t exclusively focus on that.
Instead, it has multiple segues every few minutes, so if you haven’t caught up with the first two episodes, do so before you tune into ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3.
However, amidst all the humdrum in the most recent episode, one part stood out particularly as Hegarty and his team got closer to the man behind the crime that unfolded in the first scene of the episode, and then, there was another gunshot.
Daniel Hegarty puts June Lenker in harm’s way
Towards the end of ‘Criminal Record’ Episode 3, Daniel Hegarty’s team, which also includes June Lenker in this particular case, is attempting to chase down a man named Jason Reeve, who they think was responsible for the crime in the park.
They track Reeve down, and Hegarty watches his team go through his home, and the computers go black for a moment, leaving Hegarty panicked and clueless for a moment as the technician goes to fix things.
As Hegarty has eyes on his team again, he watches an armed Reeve walk towards Lenker and he makes the decision to not warn, but the struggle to make that decision is evident on his face.
As the technician returns, Hegarty panics and warns Lenker, but it’s too late. Lenker does get shot, however, her vest protects her and she is saved. But it does raise the question, how far can Hegarty go to hurt Lenker?
