Spoilers for 'Criminal Record'

LONDON, ENGLAND: Apple TV+ has joined forces with acclaimed British writer and producer Paul Rutman, known for his work on 'Vera', to create a gripping new original crime drama series 'Criminal Record'. The tension-filled thriller kicked off with Episode 1, titled 'Emergency Caller'.

'Criminal Record' follows Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi) navigating the gritty streets of London during his chauffeur side hustle, revealing a troubling murder tale.

Simultaneously, a desperate emergency call is made, and Detective Sergeant June Lenker (Cush Jumbo) takes on the case the next day. The series unfolds with suspense as these elements intertwine, promising a gripping exploration of crime and justice in the heart of the city.

Is Daniel Hegarty hiding something?

In the opening of Episode 1 of 'Criminal Record', Daniel Hegarty chauffeurs an affluent couple to a party, revealing his police background and sharing unsettling experiences from his past. His demeanor hints at a dangerous edge, a perception confirmed when Detective Sergeant June Lenker visits his office.

Daniel vehemently denies any wrongdoing, asserting Errol Mathis' guilt in a brutal crime. Despite June's attempts to investigate further, Daniel dismisses her, portraying a brusque and dismissive attitude. He attributes Errol's conviction to a child eyewitness, Patrick, who saw the crime at the age of six.

Daniel's confrontational tone and skepticism towards June intensify, branding her an amateur and insisting she refrains from meddling in his affairs. He insists on prior notification before visiting, creating tension between the characters.

Does June Lenker figure out Daniel Hegarty's secret?

In Episode 1 of 'Criminal Record', June Lenker realizes Daniel wasn't the helpful person he pretended to be; he had something to hide.

The very next day, Diane Markham from the Professional Standards department inform June that her login details were blocked during a random check on police officers. They discovered she tried to access an unauthorized database.

June understands that Daniel is trying to intimidate her, hinting he could harm her career if she crosses him. However, having dealt with bullies before, June wasn't going to be intimidated as she remained determined to uncover the truth.

You can stream Episodes 1 and 2 of 'Criminal Record' on Apple TV+.
